Ambode: Lagos Assembly speaks on fighting governor over election money

The Lagos State House of Assembly has reacted to allegation that the move to impeach Governor Akinwunmi Ambode was for selfish reasons.
Reacting on behalf of the House at a news conference after Wednesday’s emergency meeting, the Majority Leader, Mr Sanai Agunbiade stated that the House was only carrying out its legislative duties.
Agunbiade said the it was untrue that the lawmakers wanted Ambode to fund their campaigns.
“It is a lie, the governor cannot fund the campaigns of individual legislators”, he said.
According to him, if the House wanted war, the legislature will not have given the window for explanation.
“It is now left for the governor to shut the window at us and tell us he is not interested or take advantage of the window we have given.
“Of course we are expecting that he will walk in and we look at the issues. The constitution is so clear about what is to be done where there are infractions, that is why the issue of impeachment came in.
“Where these infractions continue with impunity and nothing is done and the opportunity given to make clearance on these, we will apply the necessary provisions of the constitution, which is impeachment.
“If the public is saying the House should not impeach the governor, the public should also tell the governor to do the needful in respect of the budget,” Agunbiade added.

2019 presidency: What Nigerians will do if Buhari fails to concede defeat – Arewa youths

The Arewa Youths Consultative Forum, AYCF, has pointed out what will happen if President Muhammadu Buhari refuses to concede defeat in the event that he loses the forthcoming presidential election.
In an interview with DAILY POST, AYCF President General, Yerima Shettima warned that Buhari “won’t get away with it” if he fails to concede defeat should he lose at the forthcoming election.
Reacting to insinuation in certain quarters that Buhari may not emulate his predecessor, Goodluck Jonathan should the odds turn against him, the AYCF President General warned that Nigerians are “so exposed now,” hence the president won’t get away with such.
Shettima reminded the president that he was a product of a free and fair election.
He said: “Buhari is a product of free and fair election. If Jonathan had not conceded defeat, he won’t have been there today. I’m sure he must have learnt from some of his mistakes and I won’t want to believe that he can do that.
“Nigerians are so exposed now that he can’t do that and get away with it. The international community and Nigerians are watching and he can’t force himself on the country if he loses an election. He can’t do that and certainly, I don’t want to believe that he thinks that way. I want to believe that it’s just rumour. He can’t do that because we are not in banana republic.
“The international communities and the people are certainly interested in the forthcoming elections, so he can’t take over 200 million Nigerians for granted.
“This is not possible. I believe this is an imagination of some people who want to remain in there because they are milking the country, so they want to remain and die there. Nigeria is too big for such.”

Buhari hasn’t looted $322m recovered Abacha loot – presidenc

Senior special assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari  on media and publicity, Garba Shehu has said that the People’s Democratic Party, PDP is spreading lies against the president, will not wash away it’s corruption.
The presidency said this in a statement on Wednesday evening. According to Shehu, the PDP speaks ill of Buhari’s government, a strategy implored to normalise corruption.
This was in reaction to allegations by the opposition, that president Buhari has looted USD 322m recovered Abacha loot.
See full statement here
The People’s Democratic Party, PDP has continued spreading lies about the Buhari administration in the mistaken assumption that its toga of corruption will dissipate if it succeeded in black painting every other person as corrupt.
The strategy is to make corruption appear as normative and that everyone is equally involved.
They think by so doing, Nigerians will forgive them for their sins. This is a huge mistake.
The PDP has become an ill-wind on the country today and the elections next year present the citizens an excellent opportunity to save the country from it.
We can’t imagine a sane organization shamelessly telling Nigerians that President Buhari is looting, as they themselves did of the recovered loot, the USD 322m lately recovered from the Abacha family. This is an irresponsible lie.
The USD 322m recovered is being used to make the Conditional Cash Transfer, CCT of a monthly amount of N5,000 to more than 300,000 poor homes across the nation under the Social Investment Program introduced by the Buhari administration.
This is in line with the Memorandum of Understanding, signed between the governments of Nigeria and Switzerland as a condition for releasing the funds.
As part of the MoU, the World Bank is monitoring the application of the funds.
It is also important that the World Bank has equally given an additional facility to support the on-going cash transfers.
Nigerians are hereby advised to be watchful of what comes out from the opposition, not to be misled into voting for a party that sees nothing wrong with corruption and would rather have everyone drenched in its colors, as they irretrievably are.

“After being knocked down by a van before the match, he was admitted to San Carlo hospital in code red,” wrote press agency AGI. “A long operation was not enough, his injuries were too serious.”
According to the Italian press, the incident occurred at the end of a fight between Napoli fans who had arrived at the stadium by minibus and Inter supporters armed with chains and hammers.
Around 60 people were involved in the fight and website Corriere della Sera reported that four Napoli fans were injured and that one of them was stabbed.
Inter Milan won the match 1-0, as Napoli had two players sent off late on.
The game was marred by racist chanting towards Napoli centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly, with the away side asking for the match to be halted after the 27-year-old Senegalese international was repeatedly subjected to monkey noises.
The Mayor of Milan, Giuseppe Sala, made a public apology on Thursday, describing the racist chanting as a “shameful act” and asking Koulibaly’s forgiveness.

‘My Rivalry With Ronaldo Is Healthy’- Lionel Messi

Barcelona legend Lionel Messi has called his rivalry with Cristiano Ronaldo “healthy” and said it was good for the fans.
Ronaldo and Messi battled it out for over a decade in La Liga after the Portuguese star joined Real Madrid from Manchester United in 2009.
They were both the dominant forces in Spain and world football for much of their time in La Liga, creating a rivalry like no other.
At Real Madrid, Ronaldo won the La Liga twice and lifted the Champions League four times.
Meanwhile, Messi has won an incredible nine La Liga titles (six of which were earned while Ronaldo was at Madrid) and also lifted the Champions League on four occasions.
MySportDab report Ronaldo’s spell in Spain ended when he signed for Italian club Juventus in the summer.
However, Messi has claimed that the pair’s time at the top of the game in Spain was a positive for football and for fans all over.
“The rivalry with Cristiano was very healthy and good for the fans,” the 31-year-old toldMarca.
In awards, Messi and Ronaldo have each won the Ballon d’Or five times, creating a duopoly on the award between 2008 and 2017.
That run was broken in 2018, with Ronaldo’s former Real Madrid team-mate Luka Modric lifting the prize and Messi controversially finishing fifth in the voting.
“I heard the nominees for the Ballon d’Or and I knew I wasn’t in the fight,” Messi said.
“I love football, but family is above all,” the Argentine added.

Trump Considers National TV To Counter CNN

President Donald Trump
US President Donald Trump has suggested the establishment of a national television station to counter what he termed “the unfair and false way” CNN is portraying the country.
Trump, in a tweet, alleged that CNN was not doing great in the US but acknowledged the network “has very little competition” outside the country.
Trump wrote: “While CNN doesn’t do great in the United States based on ratings, outside of the US, they have very little competition.

“Throughout the world, CNN has a powerful voice portraying the United States in an unfair and false way.
“Something has to be done, including the possibility of the United States starting our own Worldwide Network to show the World the way we really are, GREAT!”
Trump had in 2017 threatened to shut down NBC and other American networks, saying they peddled fake news.
“With all of the Fake News coming out of NBC and the Networks, at what point is it appropriate to challenge their Licence? Bad for country!” Trump said.
There had been no love lost between CNN and Trump since his ascension to the presidency. The president had constantly pushed back against the network, which he had dubbed “Fake News”.
However, the strained relationship between CNN, which had become Trump’s ardent critic over his policies, had become worse following the midterm election, in which Republicans lost the House to the Democrats.
The White House had revoked the press badge of CNN’s Chief White House Correspondent, Jim Acosta, following a heated exchange with President Donald Trump at a press conference on the midterm election.
White House Press Secretary, Sarah Sanders, announced that the decision was a result of Acosta’s behaviour, for yanking back when a White House intern tried to take his microphone.
CNN, however, sued the Trump’s administration, asking the court for an immediate restraining order requiring the pass to be returned to Acosta.
A Federal Judge, Timothy Kelly, ruled in favour of CNN, granting the network’s motion for a temporary restraining order, and ordering the White House to temporarily restore the press credentials of the reporter.
Consequent upon the court order, White House restored Acosta’s press pass, writing in a letter to the reporter that it made a “final determination” to give him back his badge.

Okorocha Addresses Reports That He Has Left APC, Confirms Picking Up Senatorial Ticket

Gov. Okorocha
While speaking during a media parley at the Government House in Owerri on Tuesday,  Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State, said that he is still in the All Progressives Congress.
According to PUNCH, the influential politician who disclosed that his support for the success of President Muhammadu Buhari’s re-election is incontestable and unshakable, added that Ugwumba Uche Nwosu, remained the best candidate for the election in the state.
“He is visionary, dutiful, hardworking and a proactive young man. He remains the best among all the candidates for the governorship election in the state.”
Okorocha contended that he was still in the APC having been one of the founding fathers of the party in the country.
“I cannot be part of destroying the mansion I have helped in building. I totally support the APC and all of its candidates for the 2019 general elections.”
He further described what played out in the APC in the recent past on who emerges as its Imo State governorship candidate as a political injustice.
Stating that the choice of Senator Hope Uzodinma as the state governorship candidate for the 2019 election was not the choice of the party faithful. He regretted that the APC which was known for uprightness and justice had lost its integrity and purposeful bearing.
He further said that he was not embattled in any form but that the fight against him was because of his political sagacity.
The governor blamed the APC National Chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, who he described as a simpleton, having been deceived by some disgruntled members of the party.
“I still have my numerous supporters with me, but those who are naïve who want to leave and have left, I wish them good luck. This is because I cannot stop them.”
Meanwhile, Okorocha had disclosed that he has the APC ticket for Imo West (Orlu) Senatorial District election, just as he added that he would coast to victory in the election.

Starting A Blog? 7 Hidden Secrets You Must Be Wary Of

Starting A Blog? 7 Hidden Secrets You Must Be Wary Of

I am not writing this article to discourage you, am only telling you the things you need to know before you start a blog. I have 10 friends that started a blog last year, 6 of them already stopped while 2 are still contemplating whether to stop or continue.
If you want to create a profitable and proffesional blog, you will need to get yourself prepared as blogging is not that easy like many aspiring bloggers think it is.
These are the things you need to know before starting your own blog
#1.Blogging is hard, it is not for the weak: Am quite sure this will surprise you since you have already been told that blogging is the easiest job on earth, blogging requires hard-work and consistency especially when the industry is already saturated.
You will need to carry out some tasks after starting your blog as this is really necessary like designing your blog, add posts on your blog, designing blog post images, improving your seo, get traffic on your blog, make money from your blog. SEO and traffic are not something you can achieve in a month, it requires time and effort.
As for developing contents, it seems to be hardest if you don’t copy and paste as you have to develop articles, publicize them and hope your readers like it and designing your own images can be stressful sometimes.
#2.Starting a blog is not free: Many aspiring bloggers do love to start a blog but they don’t know the repercussion, the main excuse aspiring bloggers in Nigeria give is that Lindaikeji stated a blog for free then why can’t they also start a free blog? Linda ikeji started a blog when blogging is less competitive in Nigeria.
Between she started with a free domain name too, am quite sure you did not know what she faced later on? She had to buy the domain name at exorbitant rate from resellers who hijacked the domain name related your blog.
If you will still spend the money later on in future why don’t you spend it now to have peace of mind and avoid transferring your blog from one place to another?
Also note that even after spending money on domain name, hosting you will spend money on wordpress themes or blogger templates, plugins etc. though they are not necessary
#3.You will need a whole lot of data subscription to maintain your blog: This is the major issue many bloggers in Nigeria are currently battling with, we need to stay online to monitor our blogs and apart from blogging we have to surf the internet to entertain ourselves on other platforms like facebook, nairaland, instagram etc and the worst part is that we use pc to carry out some of these tasks—all these will increase our internet subscriptions monthly .
Just imagine the large amount of data we use to submit backlinks to 1000blogs, to search for blogging guides, read extensively on topics you want to write on, download your blog backup, add browser extensions etc. compared to the money you will make from your blog as a beginner, this can be challenging if you don’t have a plan
4.Blogging with your phone will be very difficult: I have done this before and it can be so challenging especially when you want to design your blog yourself.
There are some tasks you will not be able ro perform effectively with the use of phone like drag and drop, grammarly won't be available, if you want to be a wordpress blogger xampp and wamp will not be available to test your themes and plugins, typing with a phone could be a mountain to climb, designing a proffesional logo and favicon yourself will be out of it etc.
#5.COM is still the best anyday anytime: Don’t be deceived with all those free domains like .tl , .xyz , .free . They are annoying and unprofessional domain names, try and get a .com.ng , .co.za if you can’t afford .com but if you have money for .com domain name and it is available please buy it because if you don’t you will regret it later on in future as they will hack your blog down by stealing your traffic or auction it for you at higher price, they can even sell it to your competitors. .com domain names are easier to rememember.
#6.Copy and paste won’t work:So you want to start a blog to copy and paste? Forget it, it won’t work! This illegal hack is no longer working, only your family will be reading your blog if you continue with it (sorry to say).
There are legal steps the real owner of the articles will take on your blog that will be damaging and you will even risk the chances of getting your blog deleted on search engines, disabling your adsense In future.
The only thing you can do to avoid this is adding the link which will damage your blog reputation. However, writing articles is easier said than done–at first writing articles yourself can be so challenging as you will waste a whole lot of time writing one article
#7.Blogging is not a “get rich quick scheme”: You won’t start making millions the first month you start a blog, you will have to work very hard and wait for months before you can earn reasonable income online.
Many aspiring bloggers do think bloggers make money from the number of views they have on their blog No we don’t and if it is so in rare cases it may be 1000views for $1-2 for some adnetworks. We make our money from Adnetworks, direct adverts, selling digital products etc.
You must have seen some bloggers you know offline telling you they make multi-millions from blogging, don’t be deceived they may not!
After knowing these things what next? Start your blog now!
Finally, I hope I haven’t discourage you from starting a blog with this tips you just read? am sorry it had to come this way but if you are very serious with blogging you will surely make it from blogging no matter the problems you face. If you worj hard you will surely make it, Blogging will become easier as time goes on but Most of the new bloggers give up too early.
Also, you will surely get to the point when you will feel like quitting pls don’t quit because quitters never win and winners never quit. You will regret quitting later on. Let the success stories of other top bloggers in your niche inspire you to move on.

$12m: How Presidency Ordered Uzodinma's Probe

Hope Uzodinma
The ongoing probe of the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Imo State, Hope Uzodinma,  by the Special Presidential Investigation Panel for Recovery of Public Property began in August 2017 by the Office of  Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo, who was then Acting President, The PUNCH learnt on Sunday.
The SPIPRPP was said to have on November 12, 2018 briefly arrested Uzodinma, over the allegation that his company failed to execute a contract of $12m for the dredging of the Calabar channel after the firm had been allegedly paid.
The chairman of the panel, Okoi Obon-Obla, said the serving senator representing Imo West was released shortly after his arrest at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
Obono-Obla said the senator promised to return for interrogation the following day but failed to do so. It was learnt that the panel’s probe into the contract fraud allegation was originally uncovered by a whistleblower who reported the case to then Acting President’s office.
According to reports, the office subsequently directed the  Obono-Obla panel to act on the information via a memo dated August 18, 2017 “for further investigation”.
Uzodinma, who in April 2018, defected to the APC, was as of the time his case, referred to the SPIPRPP as a member of the Peoples Democratic Party.
The terse memo by the VP’s office with reference number SH/OVP/DOCS/Misc./00146 was signed by Osinbajo’s Chief of Staff, Ade Ipaye.
Other allegations contained in the document,  which our correspondent obtained from a presidential source on Sunday, included an alleged conflict of interest.
According to the letter, Uzodinma and his company, Niger Global Engineering and Technical Company Limited, are involved in “multiple contracts on the dredging of the Calabar channel”.
The PUNCH is also in the possession of various documents accompanying the charges of the failure to declare assets instituted by the SPIPRPP against Uzodinma on July 4, 2018.
The defendant has yet to be arraigned for the charges.
Accompanying the charges filed before the Federal High Court in Abuja were an interim investigative report of the panel dated April 11, 2018.
According to the report, Uzodinma is being investigated for “a case of criminal conspiracy, criminal diversion of public funds and official corruption in the dredging of the Calabar Access Channel, which caused wrongful loss to the Federal Government to the tune of N12,500, 000”.
The report signed by the leader of the investigative team of the SPIPRPP, Ime Udofia, stated that the Federal Government  approved the dredging of the Calabar Access Channel “to boost economic activities in Calabar port.”
It added, “Sequel to the approval, a joint venture was entered into between the Nigerian Ports Authority,  on the one hand, and a consortium of firms led by Niger Global Engineering and Technical Limited on the other, culminating in the incorporation of Calabar Management, the special purpose vehicle for undertaking the intended purpose on February 21, 2013.
“Of the nominal 300,000,000 shares of CCM, the NPA was allotted 60 per cent stake of about 160,000,000 shares, while the consortium of firms were allotted 40 per cent stake of 140,000,000 shares.
“The Calabar Channel Management was therefore set up for managing the channel for an initial period of 15 years.”
But Uzodinma has repeatedly denied the allegations, saying the probe was connected with his emergence as the governorship candidate of the APC in Imo State.
He said his company was only a part of the consortium formed to manage the Calabar channels.
He said the consortium formed a joint venture with the NPA. According to him, the NPA with 60 per cent shareholding was operating the joint venture, named Calabar Chanels Management Company.
He said before he came to the Senate, the dredging had been done.

2019: Gbenga Daniel predicts what will happen in Nigeria if Atiku defeats Buhari

Former governor of Ogun State, Gbenga Daniel has predicted that activities on the Nigerian Stock Exchange would rise instantly when the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Atiku Abubakar, is declared winner of next year’s presidential election.
Daniel, who is the Director-General of Atiku Presidential Campaign Organisation, made this known yesterday when he featured on Channels TV’s, Sunday Politics, which was monitored by DAILY POST.
According to him, the rise in the volume of trading on the nation’s stock exchange would come about because of belief by investors that his presidency would create an environment that would inspire confidence in the economy and bring in foreign capital into country.
“Take this as a prediction, when in February 2019, the election results are reeled out and Atiku becomes president, the first thing that you (Nigerians) are going to see is that activities on the Nigerian stock exchange is going to rise.
“You will see instant (upward) movements indicating that people believe there will be an environment where they can bring in capital,” he said.
Daniel further blamed the country’s high inflation figures and loss of a chunk of the Naira’s value on the policies of the incumbent government, saying “It was capital flight occasioned by the ‘fear of Buhari’ that brought about the inflation, we are facing and the collapse of the Naira.”

‘Diversion Of Public Funds’; Why We Can’t Arrest Oshiomhole’ – EFCC Reveals.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has provided reasons it cannot arrest and prosecute former Governor of Edo State, Adams Oshiomhole now.

The anti-graft agency is challenging the jurisdiction of the Federal High Court in Abuja to compel it to arrest and prosecute Oshiomhole, over allegation that he diverted public funds to his personal use while in office as governor.
EFCC admitted that it has received petitions accusing the All Progressives Congress, APC, National Chairman of complicity in acts of corruption, but added that it was not under any obligation to report or give account of its investigations to any individual or under a timeline within which to carry out its functions.
The anti-graft agency, therefore, urged the high court to dismiss the suit that is seeking to invoke an order of mandamus to compel it to initiate criminal proceedings against the embattled APC Chairman.
The suit marked FHC/ABJ/CS/628/2018, was filed before the court by Edo State based cleric and activist, Bishop Osadolor Ochei.
The cleric wants the court to declare that EFCC has a statutory duty to investigate different petitions that contained allegations of financial recklessness against Oshiomhole.
The pastor told the court that Oshiomhole who was sued as the 2nd Respondent, while in office as Edo state governor, acquired properties in United States of America, South Africa and Dubai worth billions of U.S. dollars and far in excess of his legitimate income.
He alleged before the court that Oshiomhole built a sprawling mansion worth more than N10billion in his home town known as Iyamho, while in office.
The pastor told the court that “The said building was constructed by Verissimo, a South African Architectural outfit. The said house of the 2nd Respondent has swimming pools, water fountains, multiple theatres for cinema and live performances, huge event halls, bridges, manmade lake, lodges of different sizes amongst others.
“The said cost of building the mansion is well outside the 2nd Respondent’s legitimate income. The 2nd Respondent’s lifestyle and extent of the said property were not justified by his source of income.”
The pastor told the court that he sent a petition to the EFCC on November 4, 2016, where he detailed some corrupt practices he said the ex-governor was involved in.
He maintained that EFCC’s refusal to act on petitions containing “weighty allegations” against Oshiomhole, ran contrary to Section 15(5) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended) which enjoined the State to abolish corrupt practices.
But the EFCC, in a preliminary objection that was signed by its team of lawyers led by the Head of its Legal and Prosecutions Department, Mr. G.K. Latona, challenged the locus- standi of the Applicant to file the action.
The anti-graft agency said it has discretion on how to use its available manpower to carry out investigations into petitions submitted to it.
“That investigation of cases is a holistic process which entails time, resources, inter-agency cooperation, interview of different persons and gathering of evidence over a long period of time depending on the nature of the case and other variables”, it told the court.
Besides, the Commission, in an 11-paragraphed affidavit that was deposed to by one of its staff, Mr. Yusuf Musa, told the court that it conducts its investigations “professionally and discreetly” before the arrest and prosecution of indicted persons.

AWCON: Bayana Bayana knock Super Falcons cold

By Ben Efe

Super Falcons of Nigeria made a jerky start to their defence of the African Women Cup of Nations , when they fell 1-0 to South Africa’s Bayana Bayana in their opening group B game at the Cape Coast Stadium in Ghana.
Super Falcons
The Super Falcons dominated the game and they had the South African women on the ropes several times, but they failed to convert their chances, most especially the one that fell into the foot of Desire Oparanozie in the 32nd minute. Assisat Oshoala had muscled her way into the box and feed on rushing Oparanozie with the pass, but rather than tap in Oparanozie shot wide.
It was a miss that came back to haunt the Super Falcons in the second half. In the 85th minute substitute Thembi Kgatlana latched on to a lob from the South Africa half and riffled home a shot, which Super Falcons keeper, Tochukwu Oluehi  had no answer. The back breaker goal handed the South Africans their first ever win over the Super Falcons who must now win their next two games against Zambia and Equatorial Guinea to advance.
“South Africa have prepared well. They have played a lot of friendlies.
“Everybody wants to beat the champions, everybody wants to beat Nigeria. It is going to be difficult but I have the confidence of getting a good result. I know my team, they are in a really good shape,” said Super Falcons coach Thomas Dennerby.

2019: Banky W Reveals How He Will Defeat His Opponent In The House Of Reps Election

While speaking at a public function recently held in Lagos, popular Nigerian singer, Olubankole Wellington, a.k.a Banky W, said that he is confident that come 2019, he would defeat his opponents at the forthcoming general elections.
The ‘Wedding Party’ actor, who recently declared his intention to run for Federal House of Representatives, Eti Osa Constituency, under the Modern Democratic Party (MDP), said though he may not have political godfathers, the financial capacity, a formidable structure like some of his opponents, he believes that with God and the vision he has for Nigeria, he would win the election.
He said: “They said we don’t have the money to run, we say we our strength lies in our numbers. They said we don’t have the structure, we say we will attempt to build it. They said “what if you lose”? I say, what if we win? You see, my entire life has been a story of just dreaming dreams, praying about those dreams, setting goals, and working until they come true.
“I can live with trying and failing. I cannot live with not trying. So while I may not have a godfather, I do have God. And I have vision, intellectual capacity, integrity, the right intentions and a whole lot of hope. It was reported that one Chief Chinedu Obidigwe, a former political adviser to governor Willie Obiano and the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) flag bearer for Anambra East and West Federal constituency – was allegedly behind the arrest of Eneh for always criticising him and his political ambition ahead of the 2019 election.
The young man was whisked away in Enugu by men of State CID Awka.
According to media reports, Eneh was arrested in Enugu on Wednesday around 1 a.m and was allegedly driven straight to Aguleri in Anambra to Chinedu Obidigwe’s house in a Toyota Sienna and three hilux vans where he was handcuffed and humiliated as can be seen in the pictures.

Former APC spokesman, Timi Frank threatens to publish names of politicians who 'bribed' Adams Oshiomhole

Former APC spokesman, Timi Frank threatens to publish names of politicians who 'bribed' Adams Oshiomhole

Timi Frank, former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has threatened to publish names and amounts paid to Adams Oshiomhole, APC National Chairman during the party primaries.
He also claimed that Oshiomhole collected over $50million from different aspirants and candidates. According to Frank, a large percentage of the money was paid to Oshiomhloe through proxies from Imo, Zamfara, Adamawa, Ogun states, among others.
An exclusive report by SaharaReporters on Thursday revealed that the Department of State Services (DSS) has written to President Buhari, asking him to prosecute Oshiomhole for allegedly receiving at least $55million in relation to the nationwide primaries of the party.
However, in a statement signed in Abuja on Thursday, the former APC spokesman threatened to "publish the names and amounts paid to lobby the national chairman to clear aspirants and substitute the names of duly elected candidates with those that failed".
"I dare say that this singular act of refusing to order the prosecution of Oshiomhole over sundry acts of bribery and corruption he committed as contained in the DSS report, President Buhari has shown that his APC-led administration is a stinking house of corruption," he said.
Expressing surprise at Oshiomhole's latest ordeal, he said the former labour leader will go down in history as a party chairman who allegedly received such "humongous bribe within a short period of time in office". Frank, however, called on the president to act on the recommendations of the DSS by ordering "Oshiomhole's sack and prosecution, if his (Buhari) government is actually fighting corruption or opposition".
He continued: "We are in the know that President Muhammadu Buhari has received the DSS report on Adams Oshiomhole and Nigerians are patiently waiting for the action or inaction of his government, because this is an administration that has claimed fighting corruption as an achievement.
In the history of party administration in Nigeria, no party chairman has been accused of collecting the jaw-breaking amount of money allegedly collected within a short period in office like Comrade Oshiomhole has allegedly done.
Instead of Oshiomhole to clear his name, he has taken to diversionary path asking the Senate President, Senator Bukola Saraki to resign. Nigerians are not gullible. We shall wait to see how the acclaimed anti-corruption regime will act on this particular issue.
This same Oshiomhole has been attacking the Senate President, calling on him to resign on moral ground. Can Oshiomhole now step aside while investigation into his financial malfeasance is ongoing to justify his much talked about morality?"

Breaking: Labour suspends planned strike, FG to pay N30,000

The organized labour has suspended planned strike

After prolonged  argument, Vanguard gathered that the Tripartite Committee set up by the Federal Government agreed on N30,000 new minimum wage.

At the end of the first meeting of the tripartite committee set up to arrive at an agreeable minimum wage template, Chairperson of the committee and former Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Ms Ama People had said while the federal government insisted on N24,000, organized labour maintained its earlier stance of N30, 000.
She however said the government pleaded with labour to call off its planned strike
“We have concluded and we have a little challenge with what we call Chapter 5 of our report, that is where we have the numbers and the figures we used for the negotiations and the figures that we concluded with and the committee has two figures: the N24, 000 suggested by the federal government and the N30, 000 given by the organized labour.
“There is no stalemate. We have finished and we have signed it but we are insisting that the strike must be called off. There are still two figures, N24, 000 and N34, 000. You know that labour came up with a figure of N66, 500 but when we put all that together with the figure we got from the states…so, we put all that in a basket plus the initial figure that the federal government recommended which was N20, 700. We put them together in a basket and came up with four scenarios, we worked with one of the scenarios and that was how we agreed on that N24, 000 and N30, 000 respectively”, said Ms People.
Asked on what the committee was going to submit, she said both figures would be forwarded to the president.
On his part, Labour and Employment minister, Chris Ngige said the committee was working to secure an appointment with President Muhammadu Buhari, adding that its resolution would be passed to the Federal Executive Council, then the National Economic Council and later the National Council of State after which the president would initiate an Executive Bill to be transmitted yo the National Assembly.
He said; “We are making progress. The governors’ figure should be the figure of the federal government. We are just trying to carry them along. That is why we made the discussions ‘tripartite plus’. It is just because we want to carry them along, otherwise the federal government speaks for governments. Yes, the figures are standing but we know that there are other processes. It has to go through the Federal Executive Council, the National Executive Council and the National Council of State, then an Executive Bill will be transmitted to the National Assembly”.
Asked if the two figures would pass through those processes, he said; “Yes, because the federal government figure is noted and is also weighty because it says that it depends on the ability to pay, affordability and sustainability.
“Labour are quiet satisfied, we are doing the needful, we have passed the rubicon. The only aspect of it now that we need to do is to fix an appointment for the handing over of the report to Mr President. We are reconvening tonight because that appointment has to be gotten because the president has gone home. He is not just sitting down in the office. If we get the appointment now, we will reconvene later and agree on how to proceed.
“The governors have no choice now because they have attached themselves to us because we are the supreme sovereign, they are minor sovereigns”, he added.
On whether the strike would go on as planned on Tuesday, he said, “no”, referring all enquiries to labour leaders.
All the labour leaders at the meeting however declined media enquiries, saying they were on break and the meeting would reconvene later tonight.

Presidency And WAEC Disagree On President Buhari's Certificate

President Muhammadu Buhari
The controversy surrounding the issuance of certificate to President Muhammadu Buhari by the West African Examinations Council has taken a new twist as Presidency on Saturday, disagreed with WAEC on the reason for the issuance of the Attestation of Results.
According to Punch, while the Presidency insisted that Buhari didn’t apply for the results of the West African School Certificate Examination, which he claimed to have sat for in 1961, the examination body said the document was issued because the President applied for it.
WAEC’s spokesman, Damianus Ojijeogu revealed this in an interview with Punch on Saturday.
Ojijeogu, in the interview said, “We would not have given him the document if he didn’t apply. It is only Buhari or a court that can ask for the results. There is no other person. So he asked for it.”
Also, WAEC said in issuing an Attestation of Results to replace a lost or missing WAEC certificate, the subjects, where the candidate had F9, would no longer be captured.
WAEC Nigeria said these on its Twitter handle, @waecnigeria, on Saturday, while answering questions from several Nigerians on the omission of F9 from Buhari’s attestation.
“That is WAEC Twitter handle. It is correct,” Ojijeogu added, confirming the authenticity of the post on the handle.
The documents were presented to the President at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, during a courtesy visit by a delegation of WAEC led by its Registrar, Dr. Iyi Uwadiae.
Uwadiae was accompanied by the Head, National Office, WAEC, Olutise Adenipekun; Head, Public Affairs, WAEC, Abiodun Aduloju; and the Zonal Coordinator, WAEC Abuja, Olufemi Oke.
Buhari received the documents amidst the controversy generated over his claim in his details presented to the Independent National Electoral Commission that his credentials were with the Military Board.
The board had subsequently declared the President’s certificate missing, hence the need for him to get an attestation and a confirmation.
Earlier on its Twitter handle on Saturday, the examination body had stated, “You cannot apply for Attestation of Results or any other document if you have not registered and sat for the examination.
“The documents for application are a letter of application, police report on lost or damaged certificate, photocopy of lost or damaged certificate, two recent passport-sized photographs of the candidate, sworn affidavit for collection of attestation of results and administrative fee of N20,000.”
But the Presidency, which spoke through Buhari’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, said the initiative to make the documents available to the President was that of the examination body.
Shehu, in an interview with SUNDAY PUNCH on Saturday, said WAEC authorities made it clear that they read about the controversy generated by the President’s missing certificate and saw the need to save the council’s integrity.
The presidential spokesman added, “No, the President did not apply for the documents. I made this clear in an opinion I wrote on Friday.
“The presentation of the documents to the President was strictly an initiative of WAEC.
“They said they read about the controversy on the pages of newspapers and saw the need to save the integrity of the council.”
Shehu had, in an opinion, titled ‘President Buhari, WAEC and PDP’s toxic air’, on Friday, quoted the examination body as saying that the controversy concerning Buhari’s school certificate was embarrassing and felt a sense of duty to produce and deliver the documents to him.
He had said, “This is a god-send, with WAEC being a non-political entity. This should put to rest the absurd allegations by the Peoples Democratic Party, brought up again and again, that he (Buhari) did not attend a secondary school.”
WAEC said the controversy surrounding the President’s picture was due to a guideline that the council used the photograph of the applicant for the attestation and not the pupil’s picture as of the time of sitting for the examination.
WAEC also said it did not issue the attestation of results to Buhari in 2015 because there was no application for it.
It said, “WAEC does not record fail in certificates. He (Buhari) did not apply for it in 2015. In August 2015, the council introduced Attestation of Results that can be obtained on request and that can serve as a replacement for lost or missing certificates.
“It should be the passport photo he (Buhari) submitted during the application for Attestation of Results. Attestation of Results carries passport of the candidate’s application when he or she applied. Candidates were first issued Attestation of Results by WAEC Nigeria in 2015.
“What we presented to President Buhari on Friday was a Statement/Attestation of Results and not a certificate. Subjects that a candidate had F9s in are no longer captured in certificates or Attestation of Results.”
