Trump Considers National TV To Counter CNN

President Donald Trump
US President Donald Trump has suggested the establishment of a national television station to counter what he termed “the unfair and false way” CNN is portraying the country.
Trump, in a tweet, alleged that CNN was not doing great in the US but acknowledged the network “has very little competition” outside the country.
Trump wrote: “While CNN doesn’t do great in the United States based on ratings, outside of the US, they have very little competition.

“Throughout the world, CNN has a powerful voice portraying the United States in an unfair and false way.
“Something has to be done, including the possibility of the United States starting our own Worldwide Network to show the World the way we really are, GREAT!”
Trump had in 2017 threatened to shut down NBC and other American networks, saying they peddled fake news.
“With all of the Fake News coming out of NBC and the Networks, at what point is it appropriate to challenge their Licence? Bad for country!” Trump said.
There had been no love lost between CNN and Trump since his ascension to the presidency. The president had constantly pushed back against the network, which he had dubbed “Fake News”.
However, the strained relationship between CNN, which had become Trump’s ardent critic over his policies, had become worse following the midterm election, in which Republicans lost the House to the Democrats.
The White House had revoked the press badge of CNN’s Chief White House Correspondent, Jim Acosta, following a heated exchange with President Donald Trump at a press conference on the midterm election.
White House Press Secretary, Sarah Sanders, announced that the decision was a result of Acosta’s behaviour, for yanking back when a White House intern tried to take his microphone.
CNN, however, sued the Trump’s administration, asking the court for an immediate restraining order requiring the pass to be returned to Acosta.
A Federal Judge, Timothy Kelly, ruled in favour of CNN, granting the network’s motion for a temporary restraining order, and ordering the White House to temporarily restore the press credentials of the reporter.
Consequent upon the court order, White House restored Acosta’s press pass, writing in a letter to the reporter that it made a “final determination” to give him back his badge.

Okorocha Addresses Reports That He Has Left APC, Confirms Picking Up Senatorial Ticket

Gov. Okorocha
While speaking during a media parley at the Government House in Owerri on Tuesday,  Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State, said that he is still in the All Progressives Congress.
According to PUNCH, the influential politician who disclosed that his support for the success of President Muhammadu Buhari’s re-election is incontestable and unshakable, added that Ugwumba Uche Nwosu, remained the best candidate for the election in the state.
“He is visionary, dutiful, hardworking and a proactive young man. He remains the best among all the candidates for the governorship election in the state.”
Okorocha contended that he was still in the APC having been one of the founding fathers of the party in the country.
“I cannot be part of destroying the mansion I have helped in building. I totally support the APC and all of its candidates for the 2019 general elections.”
He further described what played out in the APC in the recent past on who emerges as its Imo State governorship candidate as a political injustice.
Stating that the choice of Senator Hope Uzodinma as the state governorship candidate for the 2019 election was not the choice of the party faithful. He regretted that the APC which was known for uprightness and justice had lost its integrity and purposeful bearing.
He further said that he was not embattled in any form but that the fight against him was because of his political sagacity.
The governor blamed the APC National Chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, who he described as a simpleton, having been deceived by some disgruntled members of the party.
“I still have my numerous supporters with me, but those who are naïve who want to leave and have left, I wish them good luck. This is because I cannot stop them.”
Meanwhile, Okorocha had disclosed that he has the APC ticket for Imo West (Orlu) Senatorial District election, just as he added that he would coast to victory in the election.
