“People told me Wizkid would only use me, but now he has put joy in my life” – Wizkid’s bodyguard, Roy

Wizkid’s bodyguard, Roy Emmanuel Obinna has taken to his instastory to appreciate the singer for bringing joy into his family.

Roy revealed that many people told him that Wizkid was just going to use him and then dump him but instead the singer has shamed them by bringing joy into his life and his family.
Appreciating the singer, Roy wrote;

Gov. Fayemi’s earliest appointments anger Muslim youths

The National Council of Muslim Youth Organizations, NACOMYO, has faulted the first appointments made by newly-inaugurated Governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi.
The religious youth group said the appointment was lopsided and totally marginalized the Muslim community in Ekiti State.
The organization said this during a protest held at the Central Mosque, Ado Ekiti, on Thursday.
The Coordinator of NACOMYO in the state, Tajudeen Olutope Ahmed, pointed out that excluding Muslim from the first three appointments announced by the governor was “shocking and highly disturbing to all Muslim in the state.”
Fayemi had yesterday announced the appointments of Abiodun Oyebanji as Secretary to the State Government; Biodun Omoleye as Chief of Staff and Yinka Oyebode as his Chief Press Secretary.
NACOMYO said Muslims in the state constitute about 40 per cent of the population, adding that the governor was given their total support by voting massively for him during the governorship polls.
They said, “The exclusion of Muslims from the entire membership of the core principal officers of this administration is therefore worrisome, unjust, condemnable and unacceptable. We see it as a calculated attempt to exclude Muslims from the fundamental aspect of decision making process in Ekiti State.
“The exclusion of the Muslims in this regard is a violation of the fundamental objectives and directive principles of state policy as enshrined in the 1999 Constitution of Nigeria (as amended).
“The exclusion of Muslims from the core principal appointments of Dr. John Kayode Fayemi is a derogation of the motto of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as provided in Section 15 (1) of the 1999 constitution (as amended). Rather than projecting ‘Unity and Faith, Peace and Progress’; the recent appointments made by the Government will breed “disunity, commotion and backwardness.
“We also call on the governor to ensure inclusion of Muslims in all appointments to be made in future at both state and local government levels this will pave the way for the reign of justice, equity and peace in the state.”

Lagos Assembly scraps Ambode’s Visionscape, orders PSP to resume work

Lagos Assembly scraps Ambode’s Visionscape, orders PSP to resume workBy Olasunkanmi Akoni & Ebun Sessou

LAGOS—THE Lagos State House of Assembly, yesterday, ordered the Private Sector Partnership, PSP, operators to resume refuse collection and disposal with immediate effect
Speaker of the House, Mr. Mudashiru Obasa, who gave this directive, on behalf of the 39 lawmakers during plenary, also said that Visionscape can no longer meet the yearnings of the state in the area of refuse collection. He ordered the Clerk of the House, Mr. Azeez Sanni, to summon the Commissioner for Environment, Mr. Babatunde Durosinmi-Etti, to appear before the House on the matter, next week.
Newly acquired trucks by Visionscape for waste management in Lagos
The move was sequel to a matter of urgent public importance raised by Mr. Gbolahan Yishawu, Eti-Osa Constitueny 11, on heaps of refuse scattered all over the state.
Speaker Mudahsiru Obasa emphasised that the Lagos State Government does not know about Visionscape, reiterating that the House has since distanced itself from its existence.
He stated that the executive arm of government did not consult the House on Visionscape before it started operation.
We don’t know about Visionscape — Speaker
Obasa said:  “We insist that we don’t know anything about Visionscape because we were not consulted before they started work.  We once wrote the Commissioner for Finance, Mr. Akinyemi Ashade, not to pay Visionscape again and he would return any money he paid to them after our instruction, to the coffers of the state government. We will go to that, when the time comes, but we have to do the needful now.
“We are calling on the 20 local governments and 37 LCDAs in the state to have meetings with the PSP operators to go back to work and they should start paying them and make the residents to start paying the operators. We have to avoid epidemics and be proactive.”
Obasa then warned those stopping people from dumping refuse at the dumpsites to desist from doing so, adding that he saw a lot of refuse trucks in bad states and that some of them have been abandoned.
“We are inviting the Commissioner for the Environment to come and report to us within one week. The Clerk should write all the local councils in the state to do the needful and the Commissioner for the Environment should work on this and report to us in a week,” he said.
In his contribution, Mr. Gbolahan Yishawu, said that there were several heaps of refuse on Lagos roads, adding that they were not like this before.
“Some refuse are taken to Epe and Ikorodu but it is a bit far now as 300 instead of 800 trucks now dispose refuse. We used to dump the refusr in Olusosun, but the place was gutted by fire. We can give the place to private companies.
“The sanitary land fill in Epe is not being utilised and the transfer loading stations too are not working effectively and the turn around time of packing the refuse is not being utilised.
“It is not all the PSP operators that are working. May be we can recall the PSP Operators and re-open Olusosun and the land fill sites should be operated properly.”
Also, the Majority Leader of the House, Mr. Sanai Agunbiade from Ikorodu Constituency 1 revealed that there are heaps of refuse in his area, and that for the state to have good sanitation, a law on environmental sanitation was passed in Lagos State, but that it seemed it was not properly handled after that.
“I will suggest that we should challenge those in the Ministry of Health and the Environment.  We can invite the people in the Ministry of the Environment to know their challenges. This has become an eyesore in Lagos State. We should invite the people in charge,” he said.
Also speaking, Mr. Bisi Yusuff from Alimosho Constituency 1 revealed that eight people died in Igando, where they dump refuse in his area.
Yusuff stressed that Visionscape does not know the job, and that they did not even allow PSP operators to help the people.
“We should look at it critically. They are not picking any refuse in the state. It is an important matter that should be handled urgently,” he said.
In his comment, Hon. Abiodun Tobun from Epe Constitueny 1 stated that Lagos State is dirty and opposed dumping of refuse in his constituency because Epe is not benefitting from the system, that their water has been contaminated and their roads are now bad.
“There is no industrial estate in Epe, but they have in other places. They cannot bring refuse dump to Epe, they can relocate it if that is what we are benefiting. We want better things in Epe such as industries and other things,” he said.
We’ll abide by the law —Environment commissioner
Contacted, Mr. Babatunde Durosinmi-Etti said: “My Public Relations Officer, PRO, will release a statement on the issue soon. I can’t give any particular statement right now. Of course, we are working towards how we can work within a compromising consensus with what the House has said.
“Though, we have not received any official statement from the House as I speak with you. I know the problem with the policy statement, but I will tell you one thing, we will also align in relation to the law of the land.
“Right now, I can’t give a categorical statement because I have been on site inspection and until I get back to the office and see what’s on ground that’s when I can give a definite position.  I can assure you, we will always work with the House to make sure all interests are taken care of.”

Saraki pays Omo-Agege’s withheld entitlements

The Senate President, Bukola Saraki has approved the request for the payment of Senator Ovie Omo-Agege’s withheld entitlements.
Omo-Agege’s lawyer, Alex Izinyon (SAN), made the disclosure at the resumption of proceedings in the contempt case filed against Saraki and the Senate by Omo-Agege, before the Federal High Court, Abuja.
The Saraki-led Sanate had, earlier this year, suspended Omo-Agege, which the court in a May 10, 2018 judgement, set aside, ordered his reinstatement and the payment of all his accrued benefits for the period of the suspension.
On Thursday, Izinyon told the court that his client was paid his entitlements on October 12, 2018.
He recalled that a Special Assistant to Saraki informed him that his client has nine cheques waiting for him.
Iziyon said Omo-Agege, however, complained that there was a shortfall of N6m when the cheques were handed to him.
He added that the Saraki’s aide admitted that the shortfall was from an error in computation and that error was promptly rectified and the N6m paid to his client.
Saraki and the Senate were represented by a lawyer, Efut Okoi.
Izinyon then applied to withdraw the contempt case, and application Okoi did not object to.
Justice Dimgba then struck the case out.

David Mark’s daughter, Blessing Onuh dumps PDP after losing Reps ticket

Blessing Onuh-Mark, one of the daughters of immediate past President of the Senate, David Mark, has dumped the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
DAILY POST reports that her defection came barely two weeks after losing the party’s ticket for Otukpo/Ohimini Federal Constituency to her uncle, Johnson Egli Ahubi.
Ahubi is the current Deputy Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly.
It was gathered that Blessing, who is wife of the former Local Government chairman of Otukpo, Innocent Onuh, was advised to step aside for her uncle, Ahubi, but she refused.
Before the party’s primaries, Mrs. Onuh pitched her tent with Chief Mike Onoja, who also lost the Benue South Senatorial district ticket of the PDP to Abba Moro, former Interior Minister.
Few weeks after losing the PDP ticket, Onoja joined the Social Democratic Party where the former party’s senatorial flag bearer, Adakole Ijogi, stepped down for him.
A source hinted our reporter on Tuesday that Mrs. Onuh had equally picked the SDP ticket to slug it out in the 2019 general elections with his uncle, Ahubi, and other contenders.
“The truth is, Blessing was not happy with the whole drama that played out. She is also not happy because her father did not use his influence to get her the ticket.
“But (Okpani) Mark told her to wait until 2023 but she refused. Senator Mark doesn’t want to impose his daughter on the people. Now, she has picked the SDP ticket with Mike Onoja who also decamped from PDP last week,” the source hinted this reporter.
A chieftain of the party in Benue South, who pleaded anonymity, described her exit as ‘immaterial’
“She was not known before now as a member of the party, she was only riding on her father’s influence. Her defection is immaterial and we don’t care if she’s leaving or not.
“Well, it has not been made known but I don’t think it is worth discussing,” the PDP chieftain told our reporter in Otukpo.

Lukaku Accused Of Disrespecting Man Utd Over Exit Talks

Romelu Lukaku
Romelu Lukaku’s comments regarding a future move to Serie A are "disrespectful" to Manchester United, says Gary Pallister.
The Belgium international is currently tied to a long-term contract at Old Trafford and will not be going anywhere any time soon.
He has, however, hinted that a spell in Italy will be taken in at some stage, with Juventus having been linked with his services in the past.
When quizzed on a possible stint in Serie A, Lukaku told Gazzetta dello Sport: “Why not? I hope it happens.”
That admission has not gone down well with former United defender Pallister, with the 25-year-old striker urged to show more respect to his current club during a testing period for all concerned.
“I think it’s disrespectful at times if you start mentioning other clubs when you’re actually contracted to the club you’re at” Pallister told 888sport.
“If it’s in your mind I’ve got no problem with that but to put it in print I’ve got a problem with that.
“At a time when a club is under real pressure to have their leading goal-scorer say he’d like to move abroad – if that’s what he has done – is not the ideal scenario.”
Pallister is not the only United legend to have questioned Lukaku during the international break.
Despite hitting another double for Belgium in a Nations League win over Switzerland, and having four club goals to his name this season, Paul Scholes has suggested that the Premier League title will never return to Old Trafford for as long as the former Everton and Chelsea man leads the line.
He told ESPN: "I'm just not sure you are ever going to win the league with a goal scorer like him.
"I don't think his play outside of the box is good enough.
"I'm not sure if he works hard enough but he's still a young man who has done well and scored a lot of goals. He's quick and strong, but Lukaku is one of many United players who look like they're short of confidence.”
Lukaku will be hoping to prove a point to his doubters on Saturday when he returns to domestic action with a trip to face his former employers at Stamford Bridge.

2019: What Buhari discussed with service chiefs

Minister of Defence, Brigadier General Mansur Dan-Ali (rtd), has revealed details of the meeting between President Muhammadu Buhari and the service chiefs at the Presidential Villa, Abuja on Thursday.
Although the Chief of Defence Staff was absent, the Chiefs of Army, Navy and Air Force, as well as the Inspector General of Police attended the meeting.
Also in attendance were the Chief of Staff to the President, Mr Abba Kyari; Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) Mr Boss Mustapha; and the National Security Adviser, Major General Babagana Monguno (rtd).
In a statement, Dan-Ali said the National Security Council meeting began with the general overview of the security situation in the country, as it relates to the conduct of the forthcoming 2019 general elections.
He said it recommended the deployment of security agencies to the states, to enable the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) conduct the elections peacefully.
Dan-Ali expressed hope that the deployment of security personnel, would further douse the tension created by the outcome of the political parties’ primaries and “some desperate persons” to sabotage the electoral process.
The Minister pointed out that another area of security concern discussed at the meeting was post-election violence, to prevent “desperate politicians” from whipping up ethno-religious sentiments to create a security situation in the country.
He said the Council discussed the proliferation and stockpiling of weapons by some disgruntled elements and called on all security agencies to ensure that the 2019 general elections were hitch free.

This was disclosed by Governor Yahaha Bello of Kogi State after meeting behind closed doors with the Vice President on Thursday at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Ajaokuta Steel Company
Briefing State House correspondents after the meeting, Governor Bello said, “First of all, the Vice President, being the Chairman of the National Economic Council, we came to make some enquiries from him over the purported sale of Ajaokuta Steel Complex and he has indicated that there is nothing like that.
“He said there is no plan by the Federal Government to sale Ajaokuta Steel Company. The VP said Ajaokuta is an asset of the Federal Government and that they are looking into how best to make good use of that particular complex for the benefit of Nigerians at large.
“Also, we are going to coronate the new Oba of Kabba on Saturday, we came to notify him as a father of the event that is coming up on Saturday and to seek for his blessings.”
On the preparation for 2019 general elections he said, every primary can be rancorous and everybody can hustle for one ticket or the other. I can assure you that we have a capable leadership of the party in President Muhammadu Buhari.
“Also, we have our able chairman, Comrade Adams Aliyu Oshiomole who is doing his best to ensure that the party is strong and the party is really very strong.
“As for the general elections, in Kogi State, we are one hundred percent ready and we are going to sweep all the state and by the grace of God, we shall bring out a vote that has never been witnessed in the North Central by the Grace of God. I can assure you as well that the 2019 elections for Mr President, it’s going to be a walk over by the grace of God.”

EFCC: Ozekhome speaks on Fayose’s detention

Human rights lawyer, Chief Mike Ozekhome (SAN), says efforts had begun to secure the release of former Governor of Ekiti State, Mr Ayodele Fayose, from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) custody.
Ozekhome said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja on Thursday.
Fayose, whose tenure as governor ended on Monday, had on Tuesday reported at the EFCC office in Abuja to answer to some allegations levelled against him while in office.
Ozekhome said “Fayose’s lawyers are already taking steps to enforce his fundamental human rights by getting him released.
“Yes, his lawyers will go to court to enforce his fundamental human rights. The EFCC has no right to keep him for over 24 hours.
“If they have done that by obtaining a Magistrate Court’s Order that will be in the form of “holding charge” which has been declared unconstitutional and illegal by the Supreme Court”.
Ozekhome said that the section of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act (ACJA) permitting a magistrate to detain a suspect for 14 days was illegal.
According to him, any action outside the provisions of Section 35 of the Constitution which specifically provides for 24 hours was illegal and unconstitutional.
He explained that the ACJA allowed for detention of a suspect for 14 days, but that Section 35 of the Constitution made it clear that a person could only be detained for 24 hours.
“So, when there is a clash between the statute, like the ACJA, and the Constitution, the Constitution prevails by virtue of Section 1(3).
“If they have gotten an order for two weeks from the magistrate court, it is unconstitutional,” Ozekhome stressed.

Operator Of Popular Ponzi Scheme Caught Trying To Flee The Country Over N1billion Fraud

Mrs. Lizzy Efa, an operator of Swiss Gold Ponzi scheme, has been arrested by the Nigerian Police at the border between Nigeria and Cameroon in Bakassi, while trying to flee from the country, after raking in about a billion naira.
According to Vanguard, Mrs. Efa was taken to Calabar, the Cross River State capital, as investors are demanding that the matter be transferred to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), to avoid bias, because they believe that she has been arrested before and nothing was done.
While speaking to correspondents, one of the investors, a petroleum dealer identified as Justus Austin, disclosed that he has lost N11.6m to the scheme, and called on EFCC to take over the matter from the police, adding that the lady was set free by the police after she was first arrested two months ago.
He said; “People have invested so much money in the name of Swiss Gold; she is a breakaway from another group. She was initially arrested but the police released her with a promise that she was going to pay after three months.
“They tracked one of the major investors to the Government House on Tuesday with huge funds. She was of one those acting as intermediary to collect money from investors and it was through her that Efa was tracked.
“Meanwhile, we had lodged our petition with the EFCC, over the huge funds we paid into the scheme. My wife and I, for instance mopped about N11.5m from our small businesses and lumped into the scheme.
“The whole of Zone Six Police Command was crowded when they arrested her. The police should hand over the matter to EFCC; otherwise the matter will be spoilt. She raked in over N1bn within three months,” he said.
Another investor, Clement Icha, said they were tired of the way the matter was earlier handled by the police and would want the EFCC to handle the matter this time for speedy recovery of their capital, which many of them sold property to raise.
“Many of us borrowed to invest while some sold their property to put in money in scheme; we are not even asking for the profit anymore, she should just return the capital. I am paying the bank N2 million every month to service the loan I got to invest in the scheme,“ he lamented.
When contacted, Zonal Police Public Relations Officer, Nelson Ukpabi, confirmed the incident, adding that Mrs. Efa was in their custody and investigation was on going. His words:
”I saw a mammoth crowd yesterday evening and I inquired what was going on. I was told a lady involved in Swiss Gold Ponzi scheme was just arrested and the people, who she did business with were trying to see her. “She will be charged to court as soon as possible, but investigations are ongoing.”

Atiku vs Buhari: Agbakoba reveals who should win election, gives reasons

Former President of the Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, and foremost pro-democracy activist, Dr Olisa Agbakoba, has said that former Vice President, Alhaji Abubakar was the right man to win the 2019 presidential election.
Agbakoba told the Sun that what Nigeria needed was a good president irrespective of where he comes from.
Agbakoba who is also the leader of the National Intervention Movement, NIM, pointed out that he couldn’t have bothered if Buhari continued as President so long as he (Buhari) was doing what is right.
According to the Senior lawyer, Buhari has turned out to be a very bad President and the only alternative now was Atiku.
I would not have minded Buhari to continue if he was good. Unfortunately, he has turned out to be a very bad president.
That is the problem. He has destroyed the economy. Everything is on the floor. He has divided the country.
Everywhere and everything is scattered. So, I cannot give him my own support. I would rather support a person who I think will turn Nigeria around positively. And that requires a lot of thinking.
There are so many presidential aspirants on the field. But we need to look very carefully to pick the best. We need to be cautious so that we don’t make another mistake.”
Asked who he think fits the bill among all the presidential candidates, he added, “Atiku!
“Yes, in spite of all corruption allegations laid against him, there has not been any charge brought against him.
“Secondly, he has a broad business vision. He has a deep political experience. He has a pan-Nigerian outlook.
“He is married to an Igbo woman, married to a Yoruba woman. He is detribalized, even in the employment profile in his companies.
“He goes for the best regardless of where the person comes from. He understands Nigeria. My money is on him.
“Whether he will win, I don’t know. But I am only looking at someone who I think will draw from his experience to turn things around.
“I don’t care if he does eight years. That is the joker. Let us forget this North and South nonsense. Let’s forget it.
“Let us focus on getting a good president. Turning Nigeria around has an ideological and structural element.
“The ideological element is that we have to decide who we want it to be. The constitution is very correct when it declares Nigeria to be a secular state. Enough of this religion.
“It is killing us. Look at the Miyetti Allah thing or the herders problem as it were, if the leader of Nigeria is crystal clear about saving Nigeria, all this Hajj, Christian, Muslim pilgrimages that are state-sponsored should not be allowed.
“The second important point is restructuring. We have to understand that it can only work if the entire Nigerian nation is behind it.
“Right now, that is not what we see and a lot of people in the North do not understand it, except Atiku.
“And I know why. The language of the South is so threatening. You can’t restructure the South alone.”

2019: Jonathan begs South-East leaders to accept Peter Obi as Atiku’s running mate

Former president, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, has appealed to leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the South-East zone, to support the party’s presidential candidate Alhaji Atiku Abubakar in his choice of Peter Obi as his running mate.
Jonathan’s appeal followed a statement issued on Saturday by leaders of the party in the zone, stating that they were not properly consulted before Obi’s nomination was made public.
In a statement addressed to party members, which he personally signed, the former president counseled against insisting on obtaining a zonal endorsement for a vice presidential nomination.
The statement issued by Ikechukwu Eze, who is Jonathan’s spokesman, read: “I thank members of our great party for the successful conduct of the primaries for the various elective positions ahead of the 2019 general elections. By holding transparent, peaceful and rancor-free convention and primaries across the country, our party has once more, taken the nation’s democratic exercise a notch higher, in line with our well-established tradition of deepening the growth of democracy in our nation.
“I again congratulate all our candidates for various positions, including Alhaji Atiku Abubakar who was overwhelmingly elected by our delegates as the flag bearer of our party in the 2019 presidential election. The popularity and positive reviews of the exercise across the country is a clear demonstration of national endorsement for the choices we made, going into the 2019 elections.
“The task before us is to build on this firm foundation and momentum by pulling in one direction and working assiduously for the victory of these candidates at the polls. It is against this backdrop that I appeal for calm and understanding in the South East where my attention has been drawn to the fact that some leaders of our party are openly expressing their discomfort with the reported nomination of former Governor of Anambra State Peter Obi as Atiku’s running mate. I am told that some of our leaders in the zone have raised issues with the process of consultation that produced the Vice Presidential candidate.
“I affirm that consultation is a key ingredient in every political process. Nonetheless, in the selection of a vice presidential candidate, a presidential candidate is allowed reasonable freedom to select his running mate based on loyalty, trust, experience, temperament and capacity to perform the responsibilities of the office. Anything other than this could create tension and acrimony between the presidential candidate and his running mate, even before the inauguration of the government. My plea is for Alhaji Atiku Abubakar to be given a free hand to choose who he wants to work with as his Vice President without putting him through undue pressure. In this regard, only minimal consultation is required which doesn’t necessarily have to involve full regional review and approval.
“We have to be careful not to give the impression that the process of selecting a Vice Presidential candidate cannot progress until a regional stamp of approval is formally procured. The system we are used to right from the First Republic is one that places the choice of a running mate at the behest of the candidate, based on his own convictions on capacity and compatibility.
“From my political history beginning from Deputy Governor to President, I can say that this is the tradition and standard practice in countries where either the President and his Vice or Governor and his Deputy contest election on a common slate. In such instance, once a candidate emerges, he or she is given a free hand to select the person who understands his vision and plans for the country, as his running mate. I therefore want to directly appeal to my brothers and sisters from the South East zone who are members of our party to reconsider their position and allow the presidential candidate of our party to select a candidate he thinks he can work with to be able to achieve the party’s development goals. Since Atiku has nominated Mr. Peter Obi as his running mate, I am pleading with my party members from the zone to accept his choice.”

Atiku: Buhari under fire for saying dollars was shared at PDP primary

President Muhammadu Buhari has come under attack from some Nigerians for claiming that dollars were shared at the PDP national convention in Port Harcourt.
Buhari had while speaking on the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential primaries, stated that most Nigerian politicians were materialistic in nature.
He was quoted as saying, “The question of religion and ethnicity is fraudulent. Some people are not sincere they don’t mean what they say.
“I’m telling you and some of you know during my primary (in 2015) my opponents said naira had finished and people were given dollars.
“Really, it’s materialism that we will fight to make sure that we stabilize every level and do justice to our country.”
However, reacting to the President’s postulation, some Nigerians on social media, expressed divergent opinions.
Below are some comments DAILY POST gathered on the issue from Facebook.
Kehinde Osineye, ” Even if Atiku shares the whole Nigerian treasury, we’ll vote him. He has more integrity than a scam, lifeless cow.”
Jimoh Oladele, ”Vote buying starting during Buhari’s regime, Edo,Ondo,Ekiti and Osun states respectively is that not corruption.
Abubakar Ibrahim, “Buhari have nothing to offer other than lamentations, the level of criticisms is the same before and after he assumed office as a President,it would be the same thing if he eventually won the second term.Nigerians are tired of this excuses, what they are after is service delivery.”
Dedejavu Desmond, “It’s almost 4 years now that you’ve assume office it’s this same complain and blame game you have been doing before you won the election 2015 you are still doing even after spending over 3 years in office. Get something done and stop crying like a baby 2015 when you contested with other powerful aspirants didn’t you spend money during primary? Do some work and stop beating about the Bush, Integrity my foot
Ngozi Gloru Mbah, ”Atiku shared dollars, show us proof , till now we have not seen evidence. Buhari that 14million people voted for and were counted in less than 12 hours is the one that did not share dollars.”
Davids Mactony, ”This man is shameless and frustrated. The people he won in the primary have congratulated him and non of them complained of irregularities.”
Francis Joeseph, ” Buhari, do you remember that both local and foreign currencies were deployed to your advantage during presidential primaries where you emerged as APC flag bearer and the 2015 general election?”
Chris John, ”Buhari and APC were surprised after the PDP primaries because they thought all the aspirants were going to leave the party but confused as they are waxing up strong in their togetherness.”

Heavyweight world champion Deontay Wilder apologised on Sunday after unleashing a punch that knocked down the mascot on an ESPN programme.
Wilder, appearing on ESPN Nacion to promote his December title fight against Britain’s Tyson Fury, was asked to demonstrate his punching power by striking the mascot — a man inside a burrito-themed foam costume.
The blow knocked the sombrero-wearing mascot to the ground, although ESPN said reports the man inside the costume suffered a broken jaw were incorrect.
“I sincerely apologize to the brave man that was injured (if this is true),” Wilder wrote on Instagram. “I have the up most high respect for him, his participation, willingness and courage.
“If this is true @nacionespn I personally would like to invite him to my Dec.1 fight.”
Wilder also refuted reports that he didn’t realize there was a person inside the costume.
“Anything headlining I didn’t know a human being was in there is just straight click-baiting,” said Wilder on Instagram.
Wilder, the World Boxing Organization champion, is unbeaten in 40 bouts. He takes on former world champion Fury in Los Angeles on December 1.

Falana Asks Buhari To Withdraw Travel Ban On 50 Nigerians ‘Without Any Delay’

Falana                                                                                       Buhari

Human rights lawyer and Senior Advocate of Nigeria Femi Falana has faulted the decision of the Nigerian Government to ban 50 high-profile Nigerians from travelling out of the country.
In a statement on Sunday, Falana called for the immediate withdrawal of the ban, arguing that the move by the government is reminiscent of the days of military rule.
“For the umpteenth time, I am compelled to caution the Buhari administration to wage the war against the menace of corruption within the ambit of the rule of law,” he said.
“Since the 50 high-profile criminal suspects covered by EO6 (Executive Order 6) have been placed on watch list while their passports have been seized by either the anti-graft agencies or the courts, the travel ban slammed on them by President Buhari ought to be withdrawn without any delay.”
Falana’s statement is in reaction to the announcement by the Federal Government on Saturday that 50 prominent Nigerians had been placed on a watchlist and restricted from leaving the country based on Executive Order 6, which was issued by President Muhammadu Buhari in July, “pending the determination of their cases”.

A Federal High Court had in Abuja on Friday upheld the order, which, among other things, allows for the interim seizure of assets linked to investigation, ongoing criminal trials, and other related offences.
The executive order also empowers the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF), in liaison with relevant investigative agencies, to temporarily seize properties linked with corruption, to prevent the dissipation of such assets.
Although the Presidency had based the decision on the validation of the EO6 by the court, Falana said the move was uncalled for.
“Sadly, the travel ban is a sad reminder of the reckless placement of political opponents on security watch list and seizure of their passports by the defunct military junta,” he said.

Explaining his position, Falana said, “In Director-General, State Security Service v Olisa Agbakoba (1999) 3 NWLR (Pt 595) 340, the Supreme Court did not hesitate to condemn the violation of the right of the respondent to freedom of movement through the seizure of his passport by the appellant.
“It was the view of the Court that the right of citizens to freedom of movement guaranteed by section 41 of the Constitution and article 12 of the African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights (Ratification and Enforcement) Act could not be abridged or abrogated by the Executive outside the procedure permitted by law.”
The human rights lawyer also gave examples of prominent Nigerians who have been affected by such restrictions in the past and instances where the court ruled in their favour.
He said, “Apart from placing over a hundred citizens on security watch list, the passports of the late Chief Emeka Ojukwu, Mallam El-Rufai, Dr. Oby Ezekwesili, Mr.Sanusi Lamido Sanusi (now Emir of Kano) etc were seized without any legal justification by the Obasanjo and Jonathan regimes.
“It is on record that both El-Rufai and Sanusi successfully challenged the seizure of their passports at the federal high court which ordered the release of the passports and awarded damages to them.”
According to Falana, the latest travel ban imposed on high-profile Nigerians “is highly superfluous, completely unwarranted and totally uncalled for”.
“In fact, it is an ingenious design to expose the Buhari administration to ridicule,” he said.
That, he explained, is because “if the federal government had done some background check it would have discovered that the names of the 50 VIPs have long been placed on security watch list while their passports have been impounded by the anti-graft agencies or the courts as one of the conditions for admitting them to bail”.
He added, “It is public knowledge that whenever the defendants wish to travel abroad for medical treatment they usually apply for the interim release of their passports.
“Since the courts have taken judicial notice of the perilous state of medical facilities in the country such applications are usually granted. And once the suspects return from the foreign medical trips their passports are returned to the registry of the trial courts.”

Travel Ban: We Have Not Released Any List Of Nigerians Affected – Garba Shehu

Shehu

The Presidency has rubbished the lists making the rounds purportedly containing the names of high-profile Nigerians affected by the travel ban the Federal Government announced on Saturday.
Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr Garba Shehu, spoke about the issue on Sunday during his appearance on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics.
He said, “We’ve seen a number of names being circulated. We have not issued any list. We are not going to issue any list because, again, if we did so, a lot of criticism will follow. Trials by media and all sorts of things.”
Although the Presidential aide declined to mention the names any of the people affected by the travel ban, he suggested that they were no surprises to the list.
“These cases are mostly known by most Nigerians. There are cases that have been in the public domain. Most of them were never really instituted by this administration. They go back seven to 10 years,” he said.
Mr Shehu had announced the decision of the Federal Government in a statement on Saturday, one day after a Federal High Court in Abuja upheld President Muhammadu Buhari’s Executive Order 6.
The order, among other things, allows for the interim seizure of assets linked to investigation, ongoing criminal trials, and other related offences.
It also empowers the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF), in liaison with relevant investigative agencies, to temporarily seize properties linked with corruption, to prevent the dissipation of such assets.
In a statement announcing the ban on Saturday, the Presidency said, “Following the instant judicial affirmation of the constitutionality and legality of the Executive Order 6 (EO6), President Muhammadu Buhari has mandated the Attorney-General of the Federation and the Minister of Justice to implement the Order in full force.
“To this end, a number of enforcement procedures are currently in place by which the Nigeria Immigration Service and other security agencies have placed no fewer than 50 high profile persons directly affected by EO6 on watch-list and restricted them from leaving the country pending the determination of their cases.
“Also, the financial transactions of these persons of interest are being monitored by the relevant agencies to ensure that the assets are not dissipated and such persons do not interfere with, nor howsoever corrupt the investigation and litigation processes.”
The move has attracted criticism and praise. Among the critics are the Peoples Democratic Party, and human rights lawyer Femi Falana (SAN) and the Social-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP).
Mr Shehu, however, insists that the move was in the interest of concluding cases that have dragged on for too long “and held our judiciary captive”.
“The worry then is they (the cases) are not making progress and the administration wants to move very quickly with these cases so that they go to conclusion,” he said.
“This is a matter in the domain of the (Nigerian) Immigration Service and other security agencies who have the duty of enforcement.”
Asked if the persons affected by the ban are aware of the development in the absence of a public list, Mr Shehu said, “They know themselves. If in doubt, they can check with immigration.”
He argued that making a list of those affected would not help matters.
“This administration will not be subjected to another round of trial by the press; that we are persecuting individuals, or this is political, which, absolutely, it is not or that we are just convicting people via the press,” Mr Shehu said.
“Nigerians are tired of hearing about these endless trials that have led to nowhere and that have held our judiciary captive. Everyone wants to see them ending. That is the point.”

Real Reason Why Atiku Picked Peter Obi As His Running Mate

Atiku and Peter Obi
The Director General of the Atiku Abubakar Presidential Campaign Organisation, Otunba Gbenga Daniel yesterday revealed why former Anambra State governor, Mr. Peter Obi, was picked as the running mate to the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.
In a statement last night, Daniel said Mr. Obi’s choice was largely influenced by his youthfulness, vast knowledge of global and local economics as well as being a financial expert, all experience which Nigeria is in great need of at this point in time.
“This ticket will be able to steer our nation back on the path of progress, economic prosperity and unity,” Daniel said.
In line with its pre-primary election zoning formula, Atiku yesterday picked ex-Governor Peter Obi as his running mate for the 2019 presidential election.
With the development, the party has returned to the winning formula of the defunct National Party of Nigeria from 1979 to 1983 in which ex-President Shehu Shagari paired with the late former Vice President Alex Ekwueme.
PDP’s zoning of the VP slot to the South East was allegedly designed to woo the Igbo who had been complaining of marginalization.
Since the conclusion of PDP presidential primaries, party leaders have narrowed the choice of vice presidential candidate to the South-West and the South-East.
But Atiku and the party leadership have opted for the South-East in order to address “the marginalization of the zone.”
Already, the PDP has given a copy of the nomination form to Obi to fill with the ex-governor having audience with Atiku at about 5 pm yesterday.
It was also gathered that a South-South governor may be appointed as the Director-General of the Presidential Campaign Organisation of the PDP.
Investigation conducted by our correspondent revealed that the PDP leadership had presented some guidelines to Atiku on how to pick his running mate.
A top source said: “Earlier on Monday, the PDP presented guidelines to Atiku and eventually, it was agreed that ex-Governor Peter Obi fits into the criteria set out.
“The concession of the slot to the South-East was also in line with the wish of Atiku.
“In its power sharing formula, the PDP had conceded the VP slot to the South-East and reneging on the agreement would have been fatal for the party in 2019.
“Apart from being a prudent leader, Obi has rich experience in the private and public sectors which will help him manage the nation’s economy as the Chairman of the National Economic Council (NEC).
“The banking sector, which is the mainstay of the nation’s economy, will have a new lease of life with Obi in charge.
“More importantly, the marginalization of the Igbo was one of the issues which PDP had promised to address.
“Since Ekwueme lost the presidential primaries to ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo, the Igbo have not had a fair share of power at the centre.”
Responding to a question, the source added: “The nomination of Obi will foster the nation’s unity and create a sense of belonging for all tribes.
“It is like a return to the winning formula of the defunct National Party of Nigeria (NPN) between 1979 and 1983. The ultimate objective of PDP is the preservation of the nation’s unity.
“More permutations by the PDP will emerge in the next few weeks. We want to make the election of the PDP a fait accompli with interplay of dynamics.”
At press time, it was gathered that a South-South governor could be appointed as the Director-General of the Presidential Campaign Organization of PDP for 2019 poll.
It was learnt that the said governor is on the verge of completing his second term, a development which has narrowed the choice to Governor Henry Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa State.
But consultations were still ongoing last night on the campaign structure.
A reliable source said: “The thinking in PDP over the DG of the 2019 campaign is to pick a governor from the South-South who is almost completing his second term.
“The idea of the President of the Senate, Dr. Bukola Saraki being the DG is out of place because he leads the National Assembly, which is a strategic arm of government. He has a lot at hand; we do not want to distract him or any of the serving governors.
“I think the DG might be a PDP governor who is almost completing his second term in office.”
Although the source was not forthcoming, it was learnt that the Governor of Bayelsa State, Henry Seriake Dickson, might be appointed the DG.
“Dickson played a key role in mobilising support and perfecting strategies which earned Atiku the presidential mandate, “ a member of the National Working Committee of PDP added.
