We owe it to ourselves, future generations to do the right thing – Saraki

Umuahia – The Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki, on Friday in Umuahia urged Nigerians to make informed decisions during the election season, to ensure that Nigeria is put in the right direction.

Saraki
Saraki spoke when he paid Gov. Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia a visit to seek the support of People’s Democratic Party (PDP) stalwarts in the state towards his political aspiration.
He said that decisions on whom to vote for ought to be based on merit.
“We are in a time when we owe it to ourselves and the future generations that we do the right thing.
“Let us elect a leader that has capacity, knows issues and knows how to make Nigeria better.
“A president that represents all Nigeria; in whom everybody will feel a sense of belonging, because today, we know the country is very divided,” Saraki said.
He said that Nigeria required a youthful leader with capacity and vision, who would be able to harness the potential of the nation and attract socioeconomic development.
Responding, Gov. Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia said that the nation’s fledgling democracy required one who had experience on all flanks in the business of governance.
“We will queue behind Nigeria to ensure that all of us will grow together; Abia is not going to be left behind in any way.
“We share in your aspirations and pray that we will get to the point where we would be among comity of respectable nations in the world,” he said.(NAN)

Neymar, Firmino on target as Brazil cruise over USA

Neymar, Firmino on target as Brazil cruise over USA

Roberto Firmino and Neymar scored the goals as Brazil cruised to a 2-0 friendly victory over an inexperienced United States here Friday.
Brazil, playing their first international since a disappointing World Cup quarter-final exit, were in complete control throughout a low-key encounter at the MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
The South American giants had won their previous 10 games against the United States, whose lone victory came way back in 1998.
There was never much doubt that Brazil would extend their winning record to 11 consecutive wins as they dominated throughout against an American team who are rebuilding after their shock failure to qualify for the World Cup.
Brazil glided through a one-sided first half, with the hosts paying the price for repeatedly squandering possession cheaply.
The opening goal came after 11 minutes, when Juventus winger Douglas Costa found himself in space on the right flank.
British-born left-back Antonee Robinson rushed in to close down Costa, but was left for dead as the Brazilian skipped past him all too easily before picking out Firmino with a pinpoint low cross.
The Liverpool forward tapped in an easy finish past Columbus Crew goalkeeper Zack Steffen for 1-0.
Costa had Robinson in trouble again after 31 minutes, going clear to whip in another low cross. This time however Neymar was unable to get on the end of it as the Americans cleared.
In the 39th minute Steffen saved smartly from Liverpool signing Fabinho as Brazil continued to exert pressure.
The South Americans doubled their lead three minutes from half-time when US captain Wil Trapp clipped Fabinho in the penalty area.
Neymar
Paris Saint-Germain striker Neymar stepped up to stroke in his 58th international goal in his 91st game.
Neymar, who was handed the captain’s armband by manager Tite for this game, is now only five goals away from surpassing Ronaldo in second place on Brazil’s all-time scoring charts.
Ronaldo has 62 goals, while Pele tops the charts with 77.
Brazil’s sense of superiority was underscored by the fact that Brazil goalkeeper Alisson was not required to make a save until the 71st minute, turning around a low shot from Trapp.
US coach Dave Sarachan, who has spent nearly a year as the team’s caretaker boss following the exit of Bruce Arena after the World Cup debacle, admitted his team had paid the price for ceding possession too cheaply.
“We played one of the best teams in the world,” Sarachan said.
“We were a little nervy. Probably should have done a little better with the ball, but that’s why you play these games.
“It wasn’t going to be an easy night when you play a team like Brazil.”

The industry is fast growing and the potential is very high. The consumption of poultry product particularly eggs is universal hence the high demand for poultry product. The demand presently is higher than the ability of the market to meet. This is much aided by the New Government clamp down on poultry smuggling.

THREAT
Threat existing in the poultry industry includes the following:
I. Source of birds: Wrong source of birds will mean wrong output, utilize recognized/trusted agency, company or hatchery.
II. Feed: Feed wrongly formulated could lead to the failure of the project, buy feeds only from reputable mills, agents etc check for spoilage and store in non-humid/moist environment.

III. Water Management: Water is the major source of disease outbreak. Mismanagement could lead to a great loss, ensure that your water source is checked for impurities, equipments/accessories should be cleared often to avoid contamination with faeces.

IV. Vaccine: Inadequate production of local vaccine leads to procurement of vaccines that might have been mishandled. This could result in Vaccine break. Immunity test purchase from reputable vets, agents etc

Disease outbreak-proper monitoring of birds to detect early signs, employ the service of a professional

V. Formite: Veterinary equipment, farm implement etc could carry infective agents. Disease could be transfered from one farm to the other. No worker should keep birds or ever work or assist in any other farm.

Theft -business owners should do proper monitoring, proper records should be kept.

COMPETITION
farmers-customer relationship should be created by giving some incentives and prompt supply of eggs which will be well packaged so as to attract referrals,Integrity etc

CONCLUSION
Poultry farming is nothing to be afraid of as the industry still remain untapped as there is continuous demand of poultry product, making more provision for new farmers to venture into the business, locating a poultry closer to your target market makes a lot of businesses easier, but before you ever venture into it, consult an expert just for a fair satisfaction of their wealth of experience; it is very important because a bird at hand is worth 2 in the bush businesses and markets fluctuates and changes from time to time.

NOTE!!!!! The layers venture is a good one "But" it only favours those with sufficient financial muscle to go into it big time say with a minimum of #20 million naira for a minimum of 5000 birds
with an average daily egg out put of 166 crates per day

or you go solo with an experimental scale of 500 layers with a budget of #3 million naira capable of 16 crates of egg output per day, so know you can draw your corresponding chart to see how well and profiting your layers business pays off or its just a reap off compare to broiler or cockerel production of less than #3 million naira for 2000 broilers production in 8weeks to 16weeks.

Now compare this to the cost needed to fishery, snailery, rabbit, grasscuter geese, ruminants, turkey, and piggery production and the availability of your prospect market with the market analysis in focus before you resolve on which one to venture into.

The broiler and turkey market is still very much at large untap and a few into it are the ones making a kill of the venture as long as you have a license for slaughter house and cold room or blast freezers for production and storage of Chicken drumsticks, full chicken, chicken chest, chicken lap, chicken wings, gizzards, turkey wings, turkey laps, poultry head and legs and poultry intestine for raw protein supply use as substitute for animal protein supply used in fishery. Also the legs and head of poultry is a great recipe or menu in the dog food supply chain with prospect from dog breeders.

Also dont forget that a bag of feed is now between #4,250 naira and #4,350 naira as we have the Ordinary Starter feed, Super Starter feed, The grower feed, and The finisher feed so the week of the birds and type of birds determine the type of feed to be recommended.

Invest in the agricultural sector in Nigeria and create jobs and opportunities that could stimulate the economy back home. There's no government on earth that can completely take care of the growing needs of her people. The success of the Nigerian economy is the responsibility of the people home and abroad, old and young, rich and poor. 365 days fasting and prayer and attending vigils and observing 5 times a day Islamic prayer or hajj pilgrimage or pilgrimage to mecca, Israel or Roam nor consistently bad mouthing the Nigerian government won't change a thing, no angels will fly down from heaven to build good roads, rural electrification, good schools, portable water, nor good jobs and bridges in your village. The success of Nigeria is a collective effort and we must all put all hands on deck to ameliorate the economic stress that may seem to have bedeviled the system. The need for wealth creation and opportunities are increasing everyday and believe me, the government is so over burden that it can't do all alone.

Nice work. Please apply caution on your running cost in relation to you expected revenue. It is assumed that 200 bird will consume a 25kg bag so do the maths. Underfeeding will delay your birds from reaching peak and your production might not be stable as your bird will not lay until they have consumed the right quantity for them to lay.

I wish you the best

APC Presidential Aspirant to Oshiomhole: Convene NWC meeting on direct primaries, nomination forms

BY CHARLES KUMOLU
A Presidential aspirant on the platform of All Progressives Congress, APC, Mr. Adamu Garba II, has called on the party’s National Chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole to urgently convene a National Working Committee, NWC, meeting with all presidential aspirants in attendance, in order to resolve contentious issues over direct primaries and prices of nomination forms.
APC National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole
He also dismissed fears trailing the adoption of direct primaries, saying it would promote the culture of inclusiveness in APC.
AdamuGarba II, in a letter to Oshiomhole, cautioned against practices that could exclude key stakeholders from party events leading to the general election.
His words: “We call on the National Working Committee to rise to the occasion, by adopting direct primaries which is the best democratic practice for all elective positions on the platform of the All Progressives Congress.
“This will further enhance participation and promote inclusion within the rank and file of the APC. We have observed the recent speculative news on the prices of forms from the Presidency and we consider it to be a dent on the party’s effort to attract youth-inclusiveness. We humbly ask that the NWC reconsider and review this
“We request that all subsequent stakeholders’ meeting with the President in attendance to include all other aspirants, who have publicly declared their intention to run for the office of the President on the platform of the APC.
“It is very important for the NWC to provide a level playing field for all aspirants in the race.
“The youth demography accounts for over 65 percent of the electorate and also constitutes the majority of the APC machinery. It will, therefore, be counterproductive for our party to have a disposition that does not accommodate the interest and aspirations of young stakeholders within the APC.”

The President Is 'Power Drunk' - Atiku Insists, Lists Buhari Administration's Scandals

Buhari and Atiku
Chieftain of the Peoples Democratice Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has listed what he considers corruption cases in the President Muhammadu Buhari administration.
TORI News had reported that in a statement on Wednesday, the Presdiency reacted to an interview presidential aspirant, Atiku Abubakar granted a news media on the “uncompromising” stance of Buhari.
“President Buhari is uncompromising in the quest to restore probity and accountability to public office. He is uncompromising in cleaning the rot Nigeria was consigned into pre-2015, thus the war against corruption is being fought without fear or favour,” Femi Adesina, Buhari’s spokesperson wrote.
According to PREMIUM Times, in a swift reaction, Atiku Abubakar, in a statement by his media office, however, disagrees with the statement.
“If the above is true, then why did the presidency do nothing as the Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, went to court to secure a kangaroo court order to stop the Senate of the National Assembly from investigating who recalled, reinstated and double promoted Abdulrasheed Maina?

“If President Buhari is “uncompromising in cleaning the rot Nigeria was consigned into pre-2015” then how come the latest Corruption Perception Index by Transparency International reveals that Nigeria is more corrupt today than she was in 2015, having moved 12 steps backwards in Transparency International’s Corruption Perception Index, moving from 136 in 2014 under the PDP to 148 today?

“Again, we ask how uncompromising a President can be when he allows a minister accused of forgery to remain at her job?”
Atiku then alleged that Buhari is surrounded by officials who do not tell him the truth.
“It appears that the president is surrounded by people who have become his echo chamber and are telling him what he wants to hear, otherwise no one in his right mind would call an administration that increased the price of petrol while at the same time paying more subsidy on the product than the previous government which it accused of ‘subsidy scam’, uncompromising against corruption.

“It is only common sense that if the price of petrol increased by 68% from N87 per litre to N145, then the cost of fuel subsidy should also reduce, especially as the price of crude oil also reduced.
"However, by some strange mathematics, the Buhari administration pays a whopping N1.4 trillion on subsidy per annum according to the minister of state for petroleum. This amount is almost twice what the Jonathan administration paid and yet President Buhari accused that administration of scamming the nation.

“Where is the transparency in that? No wonder the minister of state for petroleum resources revealed in a leaked memo that $25 billion worth of contracts were awarded by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation under the watch of the supervising minister of petroleum, President Muhammadu Buhari.”
Atiku also made reference to the controversial $43 million found in a home in Ikoyi, Lagos. The Nigeria Intelligence Agency has claimed ownership of the money, but its former head is being prosecuted by the anti-graft agency, EFCC, for alleged fraudulent deals with the money.

“More than a year after the probe panel which probed the fantastically corrupt Ikoyi apartment billions affair, nobody knows who owned the money and how $43 million in cash was housed in a government linked flat. So much for an uncompromising attitude to corruption!” he said.
The Adamawa State-born politician also insisted on his stance that Buhari is “power-drunk.”
The presidency had in its Wednesday statement took exception to such characterisation of the president.
“But power drunk? No! And being a man “who will not be ready to leave power without a fight?” Never! Not President Buhari, who has demonstrated in many ways that he is a committed democrat, though also a retired military general. He has no apologies about that. Through a sterling military career, he served Nigeria with his heart and might, before venturing into partisan politics,” Adesina had written.
In his reply, Atiku Abubakar said, “On the issue of being power-drunk, President Buhari is his own witness against himself. It goes without saying that a president who publicly boasted that the rule of law can be suppressed against certain individuals is not only power drunk, but dictatorial.

“By that statement made by President Buhari at the opening ceremony of the 58th Annual General Conference of the Nigerian Bar Association, Nigerians now understand why this administration continues to flout court orders. This is what happens when a president thinks he is above the law.

“In conclusion, we advise the presidency to familiarise itself with the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 as amended, in order to understand that the Rule of Law and the fundamental human rights of all Nigerian citizens are guaranteed by that document which the president swore to uphold on May 29, 2015.”

Lagos and the new face of policing

By Kierian Enechi
WHEN on August 17,  2018, Citizen Adeniyi Adekunle shared a post on his page on the new electronic social media, it went viral within a short space of time. Obviously,  anyone who had experienced policing in the last several years would welcome this new development as a  breath of fresh air. Good conscience did not allow many Lagos residents to keep quiet on this.
It was A. M. Rosenthal, the famed New York Times columnist and weaver of words who once enthused: ”When something important is going on, silence is a lie”.
Though a seemingly innocuous post, silence became criminal. Consequently, torrents of comments and commendations followed the trial. It was not just because the post was about gentle officers: Zakari, Adeyemi and A. Ameh – there had been several posts about others too. Neither was it on account that the poster sleek had a flat tyre on a treacherous patch along the stretch of the Mainland Bridge in Lagos – such incident is legion.
It was simply this: Rather than the dreaded area shadow men surfacing from behind the hooded railings of the bridge with a lingering nightmarish experience, it was three smartly dressed, fully-kitted and sure-footed police officers who literally materialised behind the motorist from nowhere, to enquire if he was all right and what they could do to help!
Understandably, citizen Adeniyi was at first both shocked and suspicious. The question, ”what is happening?” must have resounded several times within him, leaving a puzzled look on his face. And the other question: “Could this be real?” As though to dash these twin doubts to the dust, the policemen proceeded to quickly help him to change his punctured rear tyre and offered him a sachet of water to wash his hand before urging him to drive on to the mainland.
Yet, such civility and exceptional professionalism in the new Lagos Police Command, structure and operations, was not birthed on top of the bridge on that fateful day. Observably, those virtues now gradually permeated the fabric and nuzzle of the Command’s personnel, spread over the nooks and crannies of the mega city and its environs, starting from early 2017. Lagosians in their various corners are wondering: what lies behind it all?
This new regime of policing is like fresh air for the over 24 million inhabitants of Lagos. Not  too long ago, the Badoo gang of ritual murderers left a long trail of blood, tears, sorrow and devastation in some parts of the state. Lagos could neither sleep with both eyes closed nor could her residents do same, repeatedly in their homes. For a town  such as this, it was like ultimate mayhem was let loose, to wander with silent footsteps under the thick cloak of darkness.
In several instances, entire families were wiped out by those depraved minions of darkness. Babies, children, including pregnant women and the elderly, were not spared these acts of barbarism. The government was visibly perturbed. The police strategised and re-strategised.
And a certain Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations), was mandated to confront, contain and cancel this energy of evil, seeking to take over the nights. He mobilised his men and deployed a novel model of community policing; synergising the advantages of lateral collaboration with local vigilantes, cultural vanguards, neighbourhood security corps and integration of DSS and the armed forces to completely reverse the situation and restore normalcy in record time.
That certain DC (Ops) of the back years is now the substantive Lagos State Commissioner of Police.
As a young solicitor kick-starting a working life in Lagos some 29 years ago, one can understand the hues and tones of Eko’s multicultural populace. What it has been, what it is now, and what lies behind it. Definitely, the people of Lagos understand Lagos, including what Lagos  carries in its belly at any point in time.
Available statistics as confirmed by informed security specialists reveal that the crime rate in Lagos has taken a steep downward dive by more than 55 per cent. This enabled Lagosians to once again regain the modest luxury of silent nights and glorious days, on account of excellent crime control measures put in place by coherent intelligent policing this past one year and some months. Presently, people only remember, very faintly, the heavy hands of the degenerated kidnappers and their business-like organised gangs. The same for the cells of armed robbers and their brazen daylight shoot-outs with security forces. And indeed, the alarming practices of ritualists and cultists – all of whom are now perpetually on the run and living in various disguise in far flung states; with operatives of the Lagos State Police Command quietly hounding them for acts they thought have been buried with the passage of time.
With effective, intelligent policing and coherent strategies for making both his men and materials fall in line, someone obviously has rewritten the police slogan in the minds of countless Lagosians. POLICE IS YOUR FRIEND now has, perhaps on the account of its sheer size, solutions that work in Lagos, excellently sailed through in other states and at the federal level. Therefore, like good governance, the state is set yet again to export workable models of effective intelligence policing for large populations and huge land mass.
Though one has never met this friendly cop with decisive strides, but it will be safe to say that he may not be exactly comfortable with compliments – being a thoroughbred professional, as shown from different accounts. But the collective wishes of all that loved, liked, shared and commented on citizen Adeniyi’s post in August is for Edgal Imohimi to please step forward and take a bow- for these things that are happening before our very eyes. It is obvious that someone, somewhere, somehow, is getting it right regarding security concerns of Lagos.
Otherwise, our silence will admittedly be a lie.

LG POLL: Aggrieved APC members in Ondo protest doctored delegates’ list

By Dayo Johnson

AKURE—AGGRIEVED members of the All Progressives Congress, APC in Okitipupa, yesterday, invaded the party secretariat protesting doctoring of the delegates’ list for the December 1 Local Government election in the state.
This is coming as the party postponed the conduct of primaries to the council across the state.
The party members disrupted activities at the party secretariat as workers and party officials scampered for safety.
Posters of candidates vying for the chairmanship, councillorship and ward leaders’ positions pasted at the secretariat were torn to pieces.
Eyewitness account told newsmen that “Some of the thugs stormed the secretariat to disrupt the activities and tore posters of candidates, just as many of the people scampered to safety.
“The protesters reportedly “warned that peace would not reign at the forthcoming chairmanship and councillorship elections in the local government, if the will of the people is not  respected.
“They said that until the names submitted at ward levels for the posts are restored and the voice of the people respected, peace will not reign in the forthcoming election.
Olanusi, Boroffice kick against indirect primaries
Meanwhile, a member of the APC Board of Trustees, BOT and former deputy governor of Ondo State, Alhaji Ali Olanusi has dissociated himself from the adoption of indirect primaries by the party in the state to pick party candidates in next year election.
Also, the lawmaker representing Ondo North Senatorial District, Senator Ajayi Boroffice said the decision to adopt indirect primaries as against the NEC of the party was inconsequential.
Addressing newsmen in Akure, the former deputy governor said the agenda of the meeting was shielded in secrecy and that he was invited to the State Executive Committee meeting and not stakeholders meeting.

POLICE RAID: Clark petitions Buhari, insists IGP, top officers responsible

•IGP dismisses 3 police personnel involved
•Delta Oil Advocacy C’ttee asks militants to spare oil facilities
•Oshiomhole outraged, calls for prosecution of culprits
By Etop Ekanem, Henry Umoru, Ikechukwu Nnochiri, Joseph Erunke & Omeiza Ajayi
ABUJA — ELDER     statesman and prominent Ijaw leader, Chief Edwin Clark, yesterday, wrote a petition to President Muhammadu Buhari, insisting that the Inspector General of Police, Mr. Ibrahim Idris, and top police officers were behind the raid at his Abuja home, on Tuesday.
Police Public Relations Officer, Ag. DCP Jimoh Moshood parading Mr Ismail Yakubu, who said gave false information to the Police before the raid on Chief Edwin Clark’s house in Abuja. Photos: Gbemiga Olamikan.
The erstwhile Federal Commissioner for Information, in the petition he copied the National Security Adviser, NSA, Major-General Babagana Monguno (retd), said there were serious questions that ought to be determined by President Buhari with regards to not only the fact that he was placed under suspicion, but also the fact that a search warrant could be procured against him on demeaning allegations that he was involved in gun-running.
This came as the IGP, yesterday, approved the dismissal of three inspectors involved in the raid; even as the National Chairman of All progressives Congress, APC, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, called for the prosecution of the officers involved.
Similarly, Delta State Advocacy Committee Against Vandalism of Oil and Gas Facilities, led by the Deputy Governor of Delta State, Kingsley Otuaro, urged aggrieved militants not to attack oil facilities.
Querying the rationale behind the arrest of four junior officers he said merely obeyed directives from their superiors to raid his home, Chief Clark, said “there was an extreme level of conspiracy involved in this case which ought to be duly probed and investigated.”
AIG okayed raid on my home — Clark
He told President Buhari that shortly before his home was ransacked by officers and men of the IGP Tactical Squad, a former Secretary to Bayelsa State Government, Ambassador Boladei Igali, who was his guest, placed a call to the Assistant Inspector-General of Police (Federal Intelligence) Mr. Umoru Usman Shehu, who he said spoke with the leader of the search party and authorized them to go ahead with their assignment.
Chief Clark said the search team informed him that they acted on the instructions of the IGP and also identified the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Yusuf Kolo, as their commander.
He said it was, therefore, baffling and unfortunate that the top echelon of the Police would “publicly and brazenly deny knowledge of the search, in spite of the evidence of clear contacts made with them before the search commenced.”
Though Chief Clark said he accepted apologies from the Police authorities, he demanded that the case  be “comprehensively probed and thoroughly investigated to fish out all the conspirators” that masterminded the invasion of his residence without due cause.
The Police had, on Wednesday, admitted that their men conducted the raid on the strength of a false tip-off from an informant identified as Ismail Yakubu, a resident of Waru village in Abuja.
The petition, marked KACCL/PET/KA/76/18, which Chief Clark wrote through his team of lawyers, led by Dr. Kayode Ajulo, was also copied to the Senate President, Speaker of the House of Representatives, the Attorney-General of the Federation, Minister of Interior, Chairman of  Police Service Commission and President of the Nigerian Bar Association.
Clark’s petition
Titled “Petition and A Call for a Comprehensive Probe Over the Unwarranted Raid of The Residence of Chief Edwin Kiagbodo Clark, OFR, CON,’’  the petition read: “Our Client is a foremost Nigerian lawyer, politician, nationalist and elder statesman at a graceful age of 92 and he has pointedly played major roles in restoring and promoting peace and order in Nigeria, particularly in the Niger-Delta…
“Our client did brief us that at about 12:30pm on Tuesday, the 4th day of September, 2018, officers and men of the IGP Tactical Squad (a unit under the direct command of the Inspector General of Police) alongside pressmen invaded and ransacked his Asokoro residence on the pretext that they were in search of arms and ammunition. However, despite the siege and search, they found nothing incriminating on our client.
“Having so searched in vain, the Inspector-General of Police, in the face of the impudent search conducted on the property of our Client, has publicly denied any knowledge of the said search and has immediately ordered the arrest of the four junior officers, who were responsible for the search and tendered a public apology to our client.
“Taking into consideration the circumstances of the invasion and uncivilized search conducted on his property, and the attendant embarrassment caused to our client and what he stands for, it is imperative to hold the view that there are serious questions, which ought to be determined forthwith and without mincing words.
“It will be rather unfortunate for junior officers and men of the IGP Tactical squad who were at best acting on the orders of their superiors to fall prey in this regard. It beats our client’s imagination that despite the fact that our client has the compliments of the Nigeria Police Force and the State Security Services protecting him, his property, and overseeing his daily activities, such level of conspiracy could be perpetuated against him.
“He wonders what exactly warranted such unfounded suspicion on his person to the extent that a search warrant could be procured against him on the demeaning allegation that he is involved in gun-running.
“Our client further briefed us and we confirmed that at the point where officers and men of the IGP Tactical Squad were to commence their search, having introduced themselves, stating that they were acting under the instructions of the Inspector-General of Police and Deputy Commissioner of Police Yusuf Kolo as their commander. Ambassador Boladei Igali (former SSG Bayelsa State and former Permanent Secretary Ministry of Power) who was with our client at the venue of the search put a call through to Assistant Inspector-General of Police (Federal Intelligence) Umoru Usman Shehu, who spoke with the leader of the search party and gave authority to go ahead with the search.
“It is therefore baffling and unfortunate that the top echelon of the Nigeria Police Force will publicly and brazenly deny the knowledge of the search conducted on such an eminent personality as our client, in spite of the evidence of clear contacts made with them before the search commenced.
“However, in the face of all the denials and apologies, our client believes that there was an extreme level of conspiracy involved in this case, which ought to be duly probed and investigated.
Issues for interrogation
‘’Having critically considered the issues at hand we have respectfully raised the following salient questions for determination:
* What was the ground for the reasonable suspicion which warranted the procurement of a search warrant on the residence of our client?
* Knowing fully well that the Nigeria Police Force has its rank and file, could it be said that the four arrested officers of the IGP Tactical Squad, being a unit under the Inspector General of Police, acted on their own volition without any authority of a superior officer?
* Who is the senior officer that authorized the procurement of the search warrant, knowing fully well the perquisite and procedure of procuring such warrant?
* Will it not be right to say that the act of the conspirators is calculated to intimidate, harass, embarrass and humiliate the person of our client and ultimately cause unrest and commotion in the Niger-Delta Region?
* Could it be inferred that there is a deliberate mischief calculated to embarrass the government of the day by provoking disturbances in the Niger-Delta Region, which has experienced relative peace in the recent time?
“The above are salient questions which ought to be thoroughly explained, in detail, for the sake of posterity and our National integrity, which ought to be preserved.
“It is public knowledge that our client has been a frontline advocate against taking up of arms by the youths of the Niger-Delta and he has been responsible for brokering peace between the Niger-Delta and several administrations in Nigeria, in leading the Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF), our client has joined other stakeholders to put a halt to youth restiveness and wanton destruction of oil pipelines in the region and ultimately restore peace, thereby increasing production of Nigeria’s sustenance in oil production and encouraging foreign participation, however the invasion of his Asokoro-Abuja residence has since fanned wrong embers, caused uproar and pandemonium in the Niger-Delta of which our clients and others have been assiduously working to curtail.
His demands
Our client appreciates unreserved double apologies by the Nigerian Police; the first of which was conveyed by the delegation of the IGP, lead by Deputy Inspector General of Police, Habila Joshak (Operations), Assistant Inspector General of Police, David Ogbodo (Legal), Commissioner of Police Abu Sani (IGP Monitoring Unit) and Commissioner of Police of FCT and the second, which was publicly tendered on behalf of the Nigerian Police Force by the Force PRO Deputy Commissione of Police, Jimoh Moshood.
“While our client accept the apologies, it is his sole demand that this case be comprehensively probed and thoroughly investigated to fish out all the conspirators who masterminded the invasion of his residence without due cause.’’
IGP dismisses 3  police personnel that raided Clark’s house
Meanwhile, the IGP, yesterday, approved the dismissal from the service of the Nigeria Police Force, three inspectors involved in the search of Chief Edwin Clark’s house.
In a statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Jimoh Moshood, the Police said the Assistant Superintendent of Police, David Dominic, who led the illegal search team, was still being investigated and would face his own punishment appropriately.
From left: Wife of former Minister of Police Affairs, Mrs. Modupe Jemibewon; Elder Statesman, Chief Edwin Clark and former Governor of Anambra State, Dr. Chukwuemeka Ezeife, during Ezeife and Mrs Jemibewon’s visit to Clark over the raid on his house by policemen in Abuja, yesterday.
The names of the dismissed inspectors are Godwin Musa with service number AP/No. 18858; Sada Abubakar, AP/No. 225812; and Yabo Paul, AP/No. 225828.
The IGP, according to the statement, ordered immediate interdiction of ASP David Dominic with service number AP. No 158460.
The statement said they were involved “in the unauthorized, illegal and unprofessional misconduct in the search of the residence of Elder statesman, Chief Edwin Clark in Asokoro, Abuja on 4th September, 2018.”
The statement read further:  “Ap. No. 158460 ASP David Dominic was queried and being investigated for Discreditable Conduct, Negligence of Duty and an Act unbecoming of a Police officer which constitute serious misconduct and if not checked can be inimical to the image of the Nigeria Police Force and violation of fundamental human rights of the Elder statesman as provided for in the 1999 Nigeria Constitution as amended. The gravity of the offences against the officer is serious in nature and dismissal from service is imminent.
“Consequently, the Inspector-General of Police approved that AP. No 158460 ASP David Dominic, be on interdiction from Service pending the determination of his case by the Police Service Commission.
“The IGP also approved and upheld the dismissal from service of (i) AP/No. 18858 Inspr Godwin Musa (ii) AP/No. 225812 Inspr Sada Abubakar and (iii) AP/No. 225828 Inspr Yabo Paul, after the trio were tried under Oath in Orderly Room Trial for Discreditable Conduct, Illegal duty, Disobedience to Lawful Order and other misconduct contrary to the Rule of Law.
“The suspect (Informant) Ismail Yakubu from Waru Village, Apo District, Abuja, has been charged to Upper Area Court Mpape, Abuja for giving false information and telling falsehood that misled Police action.”
Oshiomhole shocked, tasks IGP on prosecution of officers
In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Simon Ebegbulem, the APC National Chairman said he was “shocked to learn about the raid on the Abuja residence’’  of Chief Clark and was even more baffled and embarrassed that no reason was given for that invasion and from the comments by the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Kpotun Idris, the raid was not authorized by the police hierarchy.
“Therefore, the IGP has a responsibility not only to detain the policemen involved but to also ensure they are diligently prosecuted in court.
‘’Anything short of that will be unacceptable…I share in the pain and embarrassment Chief Clark was subjected to by the said police officers, particularly as no reason had been given for the action.
‘’This is one matter the IGP must never sweep under the carpet. It should be further reiterated that no Nigerian would be allowed to be subjected to such recklessness or impunity.’’
Advocacy c’ttee  asks militants to  spare oil facilities
Also, the Delta State Advocacy Committee Against Vandalism of Oil and Gas Facilities, yesterday asked aggrieved militants in Niger Delta creeks to keep the peace and maintain stability in the oil environment.
Deputy Governor of Delta State, Mr Kingsley Otuaro, who chairs the committee, stated this when he led Delta Ijaw Political Assembly, DIPA, to visit Chief Edwin Clark in Abuja, saying the elder statesman remained healthy, following reported illegal raid by the Police on his Abuja residence.
The raid had raised concerns on the state of health of the nonagenarian Ijaw and South-South geopolitical leader, even as aggrieved militants vowed immediate resumption of hostilities against Nigeria’s oil-based economy.
The aggrieved militants had, among other issues, cited Pa Clark’s travails as coming from his strident voice for restructuring, which they said the Federal Government was opposed to.
But Otuaro appealed to the aggrieved agitators to “help promote the causes Pa Clark stood for by continually employing responsible strategies in the quest for equity in the Nigerian nation.
‘’The issue of the embarrassing arms search of Pa Clark’s house in Abuja is already being amicably handled by Pa Clark and security agencies and there is no cause for alarm.
“The DIPA visit to Pa Clark was principally to show support for the elder statesman over his avowed commitment and standing for the greater part of his life, on peace, development and a united Nigeria, driven by justice, equity and fairness to all.
“We must, therefore, support and preserve these legacies. It is against this background that I on behalf of DIPA and the Delta State Advocacy Committee, appeal to all critical stakeholders of all the ethnic groups in Delta State, especially in the oil operating environment, to maintain peace and stability.”
Atiku, Okowa,  Gov Udom   visit Clark
Meanwhile, former Vice President, Abubakar Atiku, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State and his counterpart in Akwa Ibom, Emmanuel Udom,  yesterday, visited Chief Edwin Clark to sympathize with him over the raid of his house by the Police.
Atiku, who came shortly during the breaking of Kola nut, described the action of the police as an invasion on the privacy of the elder statesman but pleaded with him not to be deterred in speaking the truth on national issues, especially oppression, injustice and matters that will not bring about peace in the county.
Also speaking, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, who described that raid as an embarrassment to Clark, called on the Inspector- General of Police, to ensure that justice was done on the matter.
Similarly, Governor  Emmanuel Udom, who sent a high-powered delegation to visit Chief Clark,  condemned the action.
He asked the Police to carry out a holistic investigation into the matter, just as he  asked Clark not to give up and be deterred in his fight against injustice.

Ambode: Lagos Assembly speaks on fighting governor over election money

The Lagos State House of Assembly has reacted to allegation that the move to impeach Governor Akinwunmi Ambode was for selfish reasons....
